1. AWAKEN THE DARK SPIRITS

Devastated desert, burning remnants of land
Hollow cries – they don’t matter and are of no help
I am lost – within myself – helpless,
Carried by the water to the other side
Only a shadow of what I used to be
A scream that makes my bones break – my heart stops

The blood leaks out of my skin
I am burning alive – or am I dead?
A piercing shriek of despair,
Followed by a mocking laughter

I enter the burning fire in the cave
The eternal fire of doom, flames of purity
Awaken the dark spirits from the past,
Long forgotten dark spells

Dancing in the flames, with fire
Powerless, like a marionette
I let the unknown forces lead me
Body and mind dissociate
I can see myself in the flames’ embrace
As if it were a dream

A dream of another world
And of another self
Another existence, which is not life but death
I can feel the flames
Embracing my body

The dark spirits are alive!

The pain persists,
There is nothing that can save you from yourself
The letting go of your fears,
Of your thoughts – it never happens
