歌词
1. HEAVENFALL
We are here against their wills, the ones we’ve left behind
Blinded by the brotherhood of war
But the soldier is no brother, when blood and bones must break
Be not fooled, he will fight for you no more
We hear them, we see them,
We will touch their wretched flesh
From the dark we hear their call
Around them, we are near them. We are tempted by the night
And from the Heavens we shall fall.
Take heart all hopeful believers
Raise song, lock the shield, and restore our faith in men
Where there are clouds we are the western winds, rushing across the skies
The flame itself where all darkness has died
We hear them, we see them
We will touch their blessed flesh
From the light we hear their cries
Around them, we are near them. We are tempted by the sight
And from the Abyss we shall rise.
2. SERPENT OF GOD
He was led to the throne, scepter, and ring
Alone he stood before the king
“Council me in my sorrow, for you were once a liar and a Christian. Why do they still fight?”
The warrior hid his hatred and straightened
“They do because they are fools, Lord, they know naught of war.”
But the rage filled him and he spoke low.
“They fight because you have taken all they cherished,
You have taken all that I once had.
Do you now see the light of faith and devotion?
As your end nears you will hear his voice from the clouds,
And feel his breath on the winds,
Do you repent your deeds, and forsake your sins?”
And with the drawing of dark steel
Betrayal works its doom upon all men.
Piercing skin and bone the steel broke through his back.
No sign of pain, no oath of hate, as the king fell to the stone.
He retched and spat his blood upon the grains and rock.
Shocked with pain his hands sought to stem the streaming tide.
And his chest had not the power to rise, his failing breath was forced,
But the wisdom of the dawn rose with him, as he whispered,
“Do you now see the lies of faith and devotion?
As your end nears you will hear my voice on the clouds,
And feel my breath on the winds,
Time will never praise your deeds nor forsake your sins.”
The dying king with his last breath said,
“I have seen the light of God, and I have turned my back on it
Ours is a world of might and glory.
“Do you now see the lies of faith and devotion?
As your end nears you will hear my voice on the clouds,
And feel my breath on the winds,
Time will never praise your deeds nor forgive your sins.”
3. BEGINNING OF THE END
And in the dark on oaken throne the devil laughs at us,
Unflinching in our line
We do not hear the wailing of the arrows,
The pounding of the spears
We fight to live, and our lies hang in the balance
The Christ is our banner, our drummer and our song
But we fight and die for the lands where we were born
Our bones shaped this soil, and our blood once carved these hills
Without these lands our hearts are not our own
Hearken now, Messiah!
Though our love for you guides our souls, it will not be for you that we die.
“Your courage will not avail you,
Their will cannot be stopped,
Their strength has the mark of God’s hand,
Run if you can for your old lives are gone,
To them you are less than a man.
Injustice and hatred are the winds behind their sails
That drove them to our ancient land
How could we love God when with blood he makes clear
Our lives were not part of his plan?”
But the music plays and the enemy nears
We have passed the time for thought.
Sisters, mothers, fragile blessings,
Brothers, sons, and home
Those who hold the spear and those they love
It is for you that we have fought
We had all heard the stories of the battles of our fathers
Yet nothing could prepare us for their charge
These men of war who breathe fire and speak in smoke
Whose axes ring proudly amongst our shields
We are brave men, but we could not match their power
Our numbers alone could serve to hold a line
And their vanguard ripped into the mass,
Carving through a path, and the warlord smelled the fear I felt,
He knew my banner, and cried a new advance
And I pray one day that I will feel the way he felt
With that same freedom flaming in my eyes
But to my disgrace, I quailed, broke, and ran
Riding from the field to save myself from him
“Your courage will not avail you, their will cannot be stopped,
Their strength has the mark of God’s hand,
Run if you can for your old lives are gone,
To them you are less than a man.
Injustice and hatred are the winds behind their sails

How could we love God when with blood he makes clear
