3. EVE OF THE DAY OF THE LORD

Continually confusing eternity for consistency
Expecting that things will never change
Living today like every other one before
Ignorant that today will be the last
Of disobedient idolatry
For tomorrow will be a day of victory
(Glory triumphant)

In which the ways of the flesh
Shall not be glorified
But all sin defeated
(Destroyed or be perfected)
By way of salvation
Through Christ Jesus

To hammer the point home
Of eternity
And the realistic worth
Of each thing
In the light of
Supernatural perfection,
Pre-eminence,
Absolute Truth-Power-Love
Forever burning brightly unconsumed

As enemies self-proclaimed
Die the death again unrepentant
Destroyed-imperfect and wrong
Refused-for in life fleshly
They did refuse

Yet on the Eve of the Day of the Lord,
He called all still to share in glory
