Do you remember the red sky that night,
Foretelling the shepherds' and my delight?
I promised myself some peace of mind
By keeping both feet on the ground this time
But I'm holding your hand now to save my sanity,
I'm losing my faith in the power of gravity;
Will you turn and leave me here
When I can no longer mask these futile tears?

Flowed as water and burned brighter
Than starlight or the firestorm,
For love's sake she held him tighter.
I'm not asking you to save me from myself,
All I need to know
Is will you still hold onto me
If I let myself go?

I talk to a darkened space in my room,
Searching for God in the gathering gloom,
And lost here in literature I hope to find
Some wandering meaning in my half-lit mind.
I've lost myself one too many times,
The perpetrator and victim of all my crimes.
I'll drive you away,
Then curse my self 'cause I couldn't make you stay.
