1. THE SNAKE

A quiet rustle can be heard in the grass
Like a whistle, something slides
A tongue as long as a whip
Eyes gleaming in the daylight

It tells us the bold truths
Explains it again with gusto
To stand firmly in this glory
To disbelieve that it will be lost

Our homes are possessed
They listen to the truths in dead silence
Along with the poison that is hissed out
Still whispering in hatred

It sticks in your eyes like a knife
Gutenberg's string of letters
Written with doctrine
And carrying sacred truths

We don't have to think forever
The truth will reveal itself
And the serpent will take care of us
Then it will disappear among the leaves

2. DEBASED

Robbed by crooks
Laughed at by liars
Crushed by bigots
I am killed by greed
Killed by slyness
I am debased
Lies and smiles, detonation of values

The harassment, the hypocrisy, the media like a river of rotten fish

All poisoned like fanatics' heads
The plump chief stands on a stool
Calling everything humbug
The world around us is wrong
Only our judgments are right.

On the corners of dirty streets
Brains rot with the dirty truth
Repeating dispassionate
Agitprop slogans
Those darkened, those dull greasy faces
Darting eyes
The stench of breath
Those bent old ladies
Who have never read a thing
They believe every word
Have never chosen anything themselves
I am debased....

3. THE DIRT

The crowd standing, suddenly a scream
You could hear the trigger crack
Suddenly blood, a human moan
A cloud of birds is rising
The pale face falls into a sleep

Help is quickly on the way
The crowd whirls, a buzz in the head
Red overflows into white

The clock slows down, time stands still
The silence of the square snuffs out the world
The frescoed balcony glows with emptiness
Silent is the bell that always moans

The faces of the crowd drown in tears
Lead has pierced the lungs of two
He has by now become a saint
Dirt remained where he ruled

4. THE RITUAL

Bed-shackled, I am stuck
Incense caresses me, rituals incite laughter
In blissful impunity, I abide endlessly wishing
I refuse to tell everyone the truth
I refuse to deceive

Keep reading the words from the old wise book
Make a squint to look more menacing
Sing a little, gestures are useful
It only irks me, my soul needs nothing

And suddenly something nudges me
My hands yank the chain
A wave rushes into my brain
Blood splashes from my wrists

The crackle of steel cuts between the verses
Everything floats and spins gracefully
The chain spins around like a sharp sword
Splintered wood from the bed glares like bullets

The wise men stand dully, nothing comes out of their mouths anymore
The carousel of death speeds up in the mist
It lowers slowly and looks into the eyes
Of saviours in cloaks who whispered spells to me

Now ripped to pieces, they just whine

In a stupor they die under the iron fist
Soon there is silence, everything hushes down neatly
Shreds of bodies on walls, slowly flowing in surprise

Now torn to pieces they only groan
Soon the silence settles in
Shreds of bodies on walls, slowly flowing in surprise
And the demon in my head whispers
defiantly

5. UPLIFTED

Through the narrow clearing of an alley
My songs squeeze through
Raised to the altar
I wade in roses like in grass
Blue blends with yellow

Children's smiles tear the silence
And the acclaimed Mary
Runs after me, uplifted

Sometimes I'm like a great king
Who drowns his charms in sequins
Before his people following him
He peeps at the rude mob

I am walking slowly in majesty
The old bones crackle behind me
Their journey almost done
They bow their heads before the Glorified one

A host of youngsters is also rushing here
It's more of a picnic for them
They grab the girls' long dresses
To look into the sinful slit

And trailing behind, many families
Tread proudly and dutifully
Shoulder to shoulder as if on a Sunday
In robes beautiful and fragrant

And so I think in my meditation
Do they already know about fondness
For these youngest beautiful voices
For the hair entwined with fingers

I glance at them so surreptitiously
I see pride and faith in their gestures
They squint at the brightness
They'll never believe in meanness
They believe in faith, not gossip

6. THE SHEPHERD

A grassland as wide as the sky clouds
In the white order sheep are grazing

A faithful dog runs, watches over the flock
A black one turned up, quite a maverick

She wants to measure the world by herself Disobey precepts
Not to mindlessly believe in what wise men say
She wants to lie in the sun and look ahead

She wants to run in the grasslands, not get up in the morning
Open the gate I'll go alone

Others explain to her that it can’t be that way
The Lord of truth says, without him she will be lost
That she's probably sick today
That she doesn't understand anything
That she feels bad, that this is not the way to do things

A grassland as wide as the sky clouds
In the white order sheep are grazing
The stench is rising, something is drying in the sun
So that everyone feels the simple order
If you don't listen you'll end up on the fence

7. THE RING

Piscatory Ring like an executor's knuckleduster
Shines nicely on the finger
Engraving of a fish, a symbol of hunger
With an eye that glares at the thoughtless

A golden cane like a compass
Showing the sins of the world
Aiming at us like a cannon
Shooting words at the thought of the misfits

A robe as beautiful as an armour
Protects the caste from decay
Which grows somewhere behind the wall
Enters the daily bread like mould

For centuries they have stood here
Now with a slight fear
They watch what happens
Will they crash to the ground
And forever vanish in the mud?

8. THE QUEEN OF SPIDERS

From your bitten nails
The filth of thy day descends upon me
The messy hair falls on me
I warm you up in the ecstasy
When you gasp with desire
I whisper in a paid-up voice
Go down there, I'm trembling
There is a fire and sweet smell
Grown into the scars of age
Your crude ranting
Whispered right into my ears
The filth of thy day falls on me
Reflecting the clanging sound of
Rain from a rusted gutter
When you crawl at my feet
You'll do as I say
I am the mistress of this court
The star among the spiders
The Virgin Mary with the dirty face

9. AN ACCIDENT

I have crossed my Rubicon
The windowsill they call it
How simple it actually is
Though my legs tremble with fear

I think it’s done
I can't change it now
No more laughing, weekend dancing

Like a doll made of many rags
I'm falling head down freely
completely out of control

I wanted to die with more dignity
I was supposed to be upright
And here the fate at the end of the path
At such a moment is unfaithful

and it's swirled me around
I'm about to die a quick death
and I can change nothing
I still have some time left
I have a few apologies in my head
That I wasn't perfect
That I didn't give people flowers

I've got one fear inside me, that's terrible
What my family will say
That I did it myself so casually
I fell out of a window due to suffering

But I think those close to me
They’ll buy an indulgence at the vestry
The priest will calm their neurosis
So that all is quiet in the village

There will be some moans and weeping
Stories that I was perfect
And that there was a witness
That I fell out by accident
