1. PEACE, DOUBTING HEART

Peace, doubting heart! My God's I am
Who formed me man, forbids my fear
The Lord hath called me by my name
The Lord protects, for ever near

His blood for me did once atone
And still He loves and guards His own
When passing through the watery deep
I ask in faith His promised aid

The waves all awful distance keep
And shrink from my devoted head
Fearless their violence I dare
They cannot harm, for God is there!

To Him mine eye of faith I turn
And through the fire pursue my way
The fire forgets its power to burn
The lambent flames around me play

I own His power, accept the sign
And shout to prove the Savior mine
Still nigh me, O my Savior, stand!
And guard in fierce temptation's hour

Hide in the hollow Thy hand
Show forth in me Thy saving power
Still be Thy arms my pure defense
Nor earth nor hell shall pluck me thence

Since Thou hast bid me come to Thee
Good as Thou art, and strong to save
I'll walk o'er life's tempestuous sea
Upborne by the unyielding wave

Dauntless, though rocks of pride be near
And yawning whirlpools of despair
When darkness intercepts the skies
And sorrow's waves around me roll

When high the storms of passion rise
And half o'erwhelm my sinking soul
My soul a sudden calm shall feel
And hear a whisper, peace; be still!

Though in affliction's furnace tried
Unhurt on snares and death I'll tread
Though sin assail, and hell, thrown wide
Pour all its flames upon my head

Peace, doubting heart! My God's I am
The Lord hath called me by my name
Like Moses' bush, I'll mount the higher
And flourish unconsumed in fire

2. I WILL PASS OVER YOU

When God of old the way of life
Would teach to all His own
He placed them safe beyond the reach
Of death, by blood alone

By Christ, the sinless Lamb of God
The precious blood was shed
When He fulfilled God's holy Word
And suffered in our stead

It is His Word, God's precious Word
It stands forever true
When I the Lord shall see the blood
I will pass over you

O soul, for thee salvation thus
By God is freely giv'n
The blood of Christ atones for sin
And makes us meet for Heav'n

The wrath of God that was our due
Upon the Lamb was laid
And by the shedding of His blood
The debt for us was paid

It is His Word, God's precious Word
It stands forever true
When I the Lord shall see the blood
I will pass over you

How calm the Judgment hour shall pass
To all who do obey
The Word of God, and trust the blood
And make that Word their stay!

It is His Word, God's precious Word
It stands forever true
When I the Lord shall see the blood
I will pass over you

3. THE BLOOD UPON THE DOOR

When the Lord passed over Egypt
There was weeping everywhere
For the angel smote the firstborn
Of each family dwelling there
But some houses He passed over
And His word had said before
And death entered not the portals
Where the blood was on the door

Precious blood upon the door
Saving blood upon the door
O, my soul, there is no danger
When the blood is on the door

We are in a land of danger
And death lurks on every hand
But that soul has perfect safety
Who obeys the Lord's command
For secure in God's pavilion
He can watch life's breakers roar
For God's angels guard that dwelling
Where the blood is on the door

Not the blood of lambs or cattle
Sprinkled over any part
But the blood of Christ the Savior
Can redeem a human heart
Then when death those ties shall sever
And we walk on earth no more
We may live with Christ forever
If His blood is on the door

Precious blood upon the door
Saving blood upon the door
O, my soul, there is no danger
When the blood is on the door

4. WHEN ISRAEL, FREED FROM PHARAOH'S HAND

When Israel, freed from Pharaoh's hand
Left the proud tyrant and his land
The tribes with cheerful homage own
Their king, and Judah was His throne

Across the deep their journey lay
The deep divides to make them way
Jordan beheld their march, and fled
With backward current to his head

The mountains shook like frighted sheep
Like lambs the little hillocks leap
Not Sinai on her base could stand
Conscious of sovereign power at hand

When Israel, freed from Pharaoh's hand
Left the proud tyrant and his land
Across the deep their journey lay
The deep divides to make them way

What power could make the deep divide?
Make Jordan backward roll his tide?
Why did ye leap, ye little hills?
And whence the fright that Sinai feels?

Let every mountain, every flood
Retire and know th'approaching God
The King of Israel: see Him here
Tremble, thou earth, adore and fear

He thunders, and all nature mourns
The rock to standing pools He turns
Flints spring with fountains at His word
And fires and seas confess the Lord

The mountains shook like frighted sheep
Like lambs the little hillocks leap
Not Sinai on her base could stand
Conscious of sovereign power at hand

When Israel, freed from Pharaoh's hand
Left the proud tyrant and his land
Across the deep their journey lay
The deep divides to make them way

Make them way

5. O THE WAY IS LONG AND WEARY

O the way is long and weary
And our bleeding feet are sore
Is it far to Canaan's land?
Is it far to Canaan's land?
In the desert we are longing
For its shelter more and more
Is it far, is it far to Canaan's land?

We are weary, we are weary
We are weary, we are weary
Sadly wand'ring thro' the wilderness
And o'er the desert sand
We are weary, oh so weary
Is it far to Canaan's land?

Thro' the wilderness we're foll'wing
Where the stronger ones have led
Is it far to Canaan's land?
Is it far to Canaan's land?
Where the sand is often burning
And the ground our only bed
Is it far, is it far to Canaan's land?

We are weary, we are weary
We are weary, we are weary
Sadly wand'ring thro' the wilderness
And o'er the desert sand
We are weary, oh so weary
Is it far to Canaan's land?

O how sweet would be a resting place
A safe and quiet home
Is it far to Canaan's land?
Is it far to Canaan's land?
Where the cruel days of bondage
And of fear will never come
Is it far, is it far to Canaan's land?

We are weary, we are weary
We are weary, we are weary
Sadly wand'ring thro' the wilderness
And o'er the desert sand
We are weary, oh so weary
Is it far to Canaan's land?

6. HAVE MERCY, LORD

That man a godly life might live
God did these Ten Commandments give
By His true servant Moses, high
Upon the Mount Sinai

I am thy God and Lord alone
No other God before Me own
Put thy whole confidence in Me
And love Me e'er cordially

By idle word and speech profane
Take not My holy name in vain
And praise but that as good and true
Which I Myself say and do

Hallow the day which God hath blest
That thou and all thy house may rest
Keep hand and heart from labor free
That God may so work in thee

Give to thy parents honor due
But dutiful, and loving, too
And help them when their strength decays
So shalt thou have length of days
Have mercy, Lord!

Kill thou not out of evil will
Nor hate, nor render ill for ill
Be patient and of gentle mood
And to thy foe do thou good

Be faithful to thy marriage vows
Thy heart give only to thy spouse
Thy life keep pure, and lest thou sin
Use temperance and discipline

Steal not; oppressive acts abhor
Nor wring their life blood from the poor
But open wide thy loving hand
To all the poor in the land

Have mercy, Lord

Bear not false witness nor belie
Thy neighbor by foul calumny
Defend his innocence from blame
With charity hide his shame

Thy neighbor's house desire thou not
His wife, nor aught that he hath got
But wish that his such good may be
As thy heart doth wish for thee

God these commandments gave therein
To show thee, child of man, thy sin
And make thee also well perceive
How man unto God should live

Help us, Lord Jesus Christ, for we
A mediator have in Thee
Our works cannot salvation gain
They merit but endless pain

Have mercy, Lord!

7. I'M ABIDING IN CANAAN LAND

I'm abiding today in Canaan land
In the sunlight of God's love
And the Savior's face ever shines before me
As I journey to my home above

'Tis a foretaste of coming glory yonder
In that land beyond the sky
Where in bliss untold I shall ever wander
In the blessed homeland by and by

Since He washed my sin away
It is my glory all the way
All my sins have been forgiv'n
And I'm on my way to Heav'n

Won't you enter the land of peace and blessing
And its rapture with me share?
All your sin and guilt to the Lord confessing
You will have a blessed welcome there

Since He washed my sin away
It is my glory all the way
All my sins have been forgiv'n
And I'm on my way to Heav'n

All my sins have been forgiv'n
And I'm on my way to Heav'n
I'm abiding in Canaan land!
I'm abiding in Canaan land!

Since He washed my sin away
It is my glory all the way
All my sins have been forgiv'n
And I'm on my way to Heav'n

8. IN DAYS OF OLD ON SINAI

In days of old on Sinai
The Lord Almighty came

In majesty of terror
In thunder cloud and flame

On Tabor, with the glory
Of sunniest light for vest
The excellence of beauty
In Jesus was expressed

All light created paled there
And did Him worship meet
The sun itself adored Him
And bowed before His feet

While Moses and Elias
Upon the holy mount
The co-eternal glory
Of Christ our God recount

O holy, wondrous vision!
But what when, this life past
The beauty of Mount Tabor
Shall end in Heav'n at last?

But what when all the glory
Of uncreated light
Shall be the promised guerdon
Of them that win the fight?

In days of old on Sinai
The Lord Almighty came

In majesty of terror
In thunder cloud and flame

O holy, wondrous vision!
But what when, this life past
The beauty of Mount Tabor
Shall end in Heav'n at last?

But what when all the glory
Of uncreated light
Shall be the promised guerdon
Of them that win the fight?

9. THE LORD OF MIGHT FROM SINAI'S BROW

The Lord of might, from Sinai's brow
Gave forth His voice of thunder
And Israel lay on earth below
Outstretched in fear and wonder

Beneath His feet was pitchy night
And at His left hand and His right
The rocks were rent asunder!
Rent asunder

The Lord of love, on Calvary
A meek and suffering stranger
Upraised to Heaven His languid eye
In nature's hour of danger

For us He bore the weight of woe
For us He gave His blood to flow
And met His Father's anger
His Father's anger

The Lord of love, the Lord of might
The King of all created
Shall back return to clam His right
On clouds of glory seated

With trumpet sound and angel song
And hallelujahs loud and long
O'er death and hell defeated!

10. SDG, PT. 10

Father all holy, bend we so lowly
Glowing with love's tender flame
Father in Heaven, praises be given
Hallowed forever Thy name

Soli Deo Gloria - SDG!

Telling the story, spreading Thy glory
Send forth Thy people, we pray
Till every nation know Thy salvation
Under Thy kingdom's full sway

Angels adore Thee, waiting before Thee
Swift Thy commands to fulfill
Grant us, we pray Thee, grace to obey Thee
Choosing and serving Thy will

Father, now lead us, day by day feed us
Ever provide and defend
Trespass confessing, seeking Thy blessing
Pardon and peace without end

Soli Deo Gloria - SDG!

From sin deliver, keep us forever
Kingdom and glory are Thine
Thine, too, the power, hear us this hour
Father, our Father divine!

Jesus is pleading, still interceding
For His redeemed ones again
For His sake hear us, in His name cheer us
He is the faithful Amen

Soli Deo Gloria - SDG!

11. THE BITTER WATERS

Bitter, indeed, the waters are
Which in this desert flow
Though to the eye they promise fair
They taste of sin and woe

Of pleasing draughts I once could dream
But now, awake, I find
That sin has poisoned every stream
And left a curse behind

But there's a wonder-working wood
I've heard believers say
Can make these bitter waters good
And take the curse away

The virtues of this healing tree
Are known and prized by few
Reveal this secret, Lord, to me
That I may prize it too

The cross on which the Savior died
And conquered for His saints
This is the tree, by faith applied
Which sweetens all complaints

Thousands have found the blest effect
Nor longer mourn their lot
While on His sorrows they reflect
Their own are all forgot

When they, by faith, behold the cross
Tho' many griefs they meet
They draw again from every loss
And find the bitter sweet

Behold the cross
Find the bitter sweet

12. DEFEND US, LORD, FROM EVERY ILL

Lord, from far-severed climes we come
To meet at last in Thee, our Home
Thou who hast been our guide and guard
Be still our hope, our rich reward

Defend us, Lord, from every ill
Strengthen our hearts to do Thy will
In all we plan and all we do
Still keep us to Thy service true

O let us hear the inspiring word
Which they of old at Horeb heard
Breathe to our hearts the high command
Go onward and possess the land!

Thou who are light, shine on each soul!
Thou who are truth, each mind control!
Open our eyes and make us see
The path which leads to Heaven and Thee!

Lord, from far-severed climes we come
To meet at last in Thee, our Home
Thou who hast been our guide and guard
Be still our hope, our rich reward

Defend us, Lord, from every ill
Strengthen our hearts to do Thy will
In all we plan and all we do
Still keep us to Thy service true

Thou who are light, shine on each soul!
Thou who are truth, each mind control!
Open our eyes and make us see
The path which leads to Heaven and Thee!

Defend us, Lord, from every ill

13. GLORIOUS IS THY NAME, O LORD

Glorious is Thy name, O Lord!
Heav'n and earth with one accord
Tell Thy greatness, part revealed
But the larger part concealed
How shall we poor singers dare
Seek Thy face in praise and prayer?

Fearful is Thy name, O Lord!
Dread Thy voice and sharp Thy sword
Thunders roll around Thy path
None can stand before Thy wrath!
How shall trembling sinners dare
Lift their voice in praise and prayer?

Yet with all Thy wondrous might
Far beyond our mortal sight
Perfect wisdom, boundless powers
Thou, O glorious God! art ours
So, though filled with awe, we dare
Name Thy name in praise and prayer

Since, to save a world undone
Thou didst give Thine only Son
All Thy greatness, Lord Most High
Brings Thee to our hearts more nigh
Thus in faith and hope we dare
Claim Thy love in praise and prayer

Thus in faith and hope we dare
Claim Thy love in praise and prayer

14. THERE IS A HOUSE NOT MADE WITH HANDS

There is a house not made with hands
Eternal and on high
And here my spirit waiting stands
Till God shall bid it fly

Shortly this prison of my clay
Must be dissolved and fall
Then, O my soul! with joy obey
Thy heav'nly Father's call

'Tis He, by His almighty grace
That forms Thee fit for Heav'n
And, as an earnest of the place
Has His own Spirit giv'n

We walk by faith of joys to come
Faith lives upon His Word
But while the body is our home
We're absent from the Lord

'Tis pleasant to believe Thy grace
But we had rather see
We would be absent from the flesh
And present, Lord, with Thee

There is a house not made with hands
Eternal and on high
And here my spirit waiting stands
Till God shall bid it fly

Fly

15. GO DOWN MOSES

When Israel was in Egypt's land
Let My people go
Oppressed so hard they could not stand
Let My people go

Go down, Moses
Way down in Egypt's land
Tell old Pharaoh
To let My people go

Thus saith the Lord, bold Moses said
Let My people go
If not I'll smite your first born dead
Let My people go

Go down, Moses
Way down in Egypt's land
Tell old Pharaoh
To let My people go

No more in bondage shall they toil
Let My people go
Let them come out with Egypt's spoil
Let My people go

Go down, Moses
Way down in Egypt's land
Tell old Pharaoh
To let My people go

16. BENEDICTION

Blessed are all who fear the Lord
Who walk in obedience to him

You will eat the fruit of your labour
Blessings and prosperity will be yours

Your wife will be like a fruitful vine within your house
Your children will be like olive shoots round your table

Your wife will be like a fruitful vine within your house
Your children will be like olive shoots round your table
Yes, this will be the blessing for the man who fears the Lord

Peace be upon Israel

May the Lord bless you from Zion all the days of your life
May you see the prosperity of Jerusalem
May you live to see your children's children
Your children's children

17. CREEPING DEATH

Slaves
Hebrews born to serve, to the pharaoh
Heed
To his every word, live in fear
Faith
Of the unknown one, the deliverer
Wait
Something must be done, four hundred years

So let it be written
So let it be done
I'm sent here by the chosen one
So let it be written
So let it be done
To kill the first born pharaoh son
I'm creeping death

Now
Let my people go, land of Goshen
Go
I will be with thee, bush of fire
Blood
Running red and strong, down the Nile
Plague
Darkness three days long, hail to fire

So let it be written
So let it be done
I'm sent here by the chosen one
So let it be written
So let it be done
To kill the first born pharaoh son
I'm creeping death

Die by my hand
I creep across the land
Killing first-born man

Die by my hand
I creep across the land
Killing first-born man

I
Rule the midnight air, the destroyer
Born
I shall soon be there, deadly mass
I
Creep the steps and floor, final darkness
Blood
Lamb's blood, painted door, I shall pass

So let it be written
So let it be done
I'm sent here by the chosen one
So let it be written
So let it be done
To kill the first born pharaoh son
I'm creeping death
