1. SWAN NEBULA

Swirling clouds of colored gas
Left over from the distant past
Emancipation,
A subtle shift in the light

Drifting, you
Start to miss the stars
That crawled over your eyes
And shielded them from shadows

As for myself,
I think I've fallen in love
With the idea of it,
Soporific, infinite, sublime

You act like I'm some
Distant vibrant thing,
Vivid in color, but poorly defined
And never solid

I see a nebula
A cascade of stars
Straightening their spines
In sequence

Can you hear the sudden hush
Of a shifting universe?
Remove the feathers from your hair
And breathe.


2. SEPIA

Black and white, yellowing
Moments frozen in this time
Pale cold faces
Revealing, yet concealing
Speaking through the silence
But are they heard correctly
We will never know

As we speak to understand
How it turns to older gold
A tombstone of a time gone by
Preserved, to remind us of the past
Unchanged, unchangeable...

Sepia, this is us
Soon adorned with golden blush
For now it is in shade
I want the light to fade
In hope to create
A frame for memory of that day
The silver turns to sulfide
And the effort is in vain

For all men, time rushes by
Feelings die, People change
And photographs age
A century has passed me by but one memory still haunts me
I remember that day, the fading sun,
Your skin ablaze, in sepia
I recall that day as we lay
And watch this world goes up in flames,
Your beauty always remained within me but
I can't recall your face, just your eyes that gaze in sepia

Long forgotten
Shattered and torn
Sepia memories
Remembered-forlorn.
Faded and aged
To neglected state
Sepia memories
Become/Became my only fate.
