1. NIGH UNTO THE GRAVE

O Lord
God of my salvation
I have cried
Day and night before Thee

Let my prayer
Come before thee
Incline thine ear
Unto my cry...

For my soul
Is full of troubles
And my life draweth nigh

I am counted with them

2. WAVES OF AFFLICTION

3. MORNING PRAYER

Thou
Hast put away
Mine acquaintance
Far from me

Thou hast made me
An abomination unto them

I am shut up
And I cannot come forth

Mine eye mourneth
By reason of my affliction

Lord, I have called
Daily upon me
I have stretched out my hands
Undo Thee

Wilt Thou shew wonders
To the dead?
Shall the dead
Arise and praise Thee?

Shall Thy lovingkindness
Be declared in the grave?
Or Thy faithfulness
In destruction?

Shall Thy wonders
Be known in the dark?
And Thy righteousness
In the land of forgetfullness?

But unto Thee
Have I cried, O Lord..

And in the morning
Shall my prayer prevent Thee

Lord, why castest Thou off my soul?
Why hidest Thou Thy face from me?


4. WHILE I SUFFER

I am afflicted
And ready to die
From my youth up

While I suffer
Thy terrors
I am distracted

Thy fierce wrath
Goeth over me...
Thy terrors
Have cut me off...

They came round about me daily
Like water

They compassed me
About together

Lover and friend
Hast thou put far from me
And mine acquaintance
Into darkness...

5. SINKING

Save me, O God
For the waters
Are come in
Unto my neck

I sink in deep mire
Where there is no standing
I am come into deep waters
Where the floods overflow me

I am weary of my crying
My throat is dried
Mine eyes fail
While I wait for my God

They that hate me without cause
Are more than the hairs of my head

They that would destroy me
Being mine enemies wrongfully
Are mighty
Then I restored
That which I took not away...

O God, Thou knowest my foolishness
And my sins are not hidden from Thee


SANCTIFICATION

6. IN THE MULTITUDE OF THY MERCIES

O God, Thou knowest my foolishness
And my sins are not hid from Thee

Let not them that wait on thee
O Lord God of hosts,
Be ashamed for my sake

Let not those that seek Thee
Be confounded for my sake
O God of Israel

Because for thy sake
I have borne reproach
Shame hath covered my face

I am become a stranger
Unto my brethren
An an alien
Unto my mother's children

For the zeal of Thine House
Hath eaten me up
And the reproaches of them that reproached thee
Are fallen upon me...

When I wept and chastened my soul with fasting
That was to my reproach...

I made sackcloth also my garment
And I became a proverb to them...

They that sit in the gate
Speak against me
And I was the song
Of drunkards...

But as for me, my prayer is unto Thee O Lord
In an acceptable time, O God
In the multitude of Thy mercy
Hear me
In the truth of Thy salvation

Deliver me...

O God, Thou knowest my foolishness
And my sins are not hid from Thee

Let not them that wait on thee
O Lord God of hosts,
Be ashamed for my sake

Let not those that seek Thee
