We renounce that life of consumption and greed.

Advertisements that value us in dollars and cents.
Will not shape who we know ourselves to be.
The good of the earth will be our means.
To grasp the eternity within our hearts.
We proclaim for what human life is made.
We will not bury our heads in the dirt.
To the neglect of the stars.
We reach for the heavens.
And earth is given into our hands.


3. THIRST

All the fire that you breathe has only served to parch your throat further.
Have you come to love this desert.
Your feet have swelled as you search.
For something to wet your dry tongue.
You may drink all the ocean.
Your thirst is less quenched than when you began.
“My mouth is not dry.
Yours is just the same.”
Even as you deny your voice cracks.
You will soon be hoarse.
Unable to call for another glass of salt water.
Or admit your thirst.
Delay no longer.
Come to the waters.
Come and drink freely.
Water that halts all thirst.
May it well up in you unto life.
Revealing and satisfying your deepest thirst.

Pride and lust consume this broken bitter soul.
And yet through it all you hold me fast while.
I pierce you with more than my eyes.
You promised no one could remove my heart.
