The Code

It's 3 a.m. and I walk these halls again
Something I've read has struck a chord inside of me

A trusted friend says the facts are just too thin
The stories nice and that's just all it is

But I said no,
There's meaning to the code
I feel it in my soul
You'd see it if your heart stopped beating

No, there's meaning to the code
It's waiting to unfold
And bring about a life with meaning

So I begin, the whole pursuit again
And reaffirm this confidence inside of me

Reason within, throwing caution to the wind
The other voice that tries to rage within


2. WHAT DID YOU SEE?

Did you see the stars
Did you go that far beyond
Was there someone there
Did you journey all alone

As I stood there waiting
I wondered if you could hear it all
All the voices screaming
Crying out to Heaven's door

What did you see
Was there a reason you came back to me
Is there a meaning after all

What did you see inside
Was darkness shadowed by the light
Tell me there's meaning to it all

Did you feel afraid
Did you know that you belonged
Was it all worth waiting
Did you see the Morning Star

The anticipation
Made me think that you were gone
It was the most amazing
Sight I've seen that answers all

Waiting,
Making my thoughts
Betray the oath that I have taken

Don't say,
That just cause I'm tempted
I betray the vow I'm making

As I look beyond
I see nothing there, and something's wrong
What do I stand to gain
If I throw it all away

I decide if there's nothing left to be
Of you and I, decision's up to me
Why must I bear the burden of the plea
Cause it's tearing at me now
Wearing on me now
Nothing left to be

Saying,
Seems all I do
Is wager nothing while I'm playing

Changing
Is what keeps me hoping
I'll make way with what your paying


4. I'LL BE ALRIGHT

Late at night, the wheels are turning
I'm wondering why, how did we arrive
At a place in life that never did unfold

But I believe we can still achieve
From the life we are living to the one we've dreamed
Cause the future has not all been set in stone

Could it be the night
That heaven is opened
Would it be alright
If it started to rain
Could it be the night
For hope we've been given
To come and prepare the way
To bring us to where we can say
It'll be all right

Long ago on a different shoreline
Of dreams we'd had for what laid in store
But the ocean washed away the trail we'd left behind

Let's start again, where the path had end
And just carry on with a different plan
Cause the future's all we make it, all our own


5. MOTIVES

Come full circle again
It seems there's no protection
I'm suffering friends of fools
With nothing much to say

All your comments are made
With nothing but poor intentions
Your motive is clear
I plainly see it as attacking me for nothing more than selfish gain

Oh, I feel, I hurt, I bleed
Now, I see, you turn, It's real
Gone, the need, to make, appeals
It's all, the same, to me, just take it with you

I can see it all
Motives make the call
As I walk away
I wonder what you're thinking

Now that reason is clear
There's no need for objection
The startling voice of fear
Is coming into play

Long from wisdom
Are the words that you have spoken
Your motive is clear
You need to think before you speak and weigh the words of what you're gonna say

I can see, I believe, can I make it
I am me, I can see, I believe it
Can you see, are you real, really make it
Makin' the deal, are you really gonna pay


6. CHOICES

Time, honestly
Is my friend for a season
I watch go on by
This friend of mine, for no good reason

Why, honestly,
Do I blame my decision
I'm still as free
To travel roads my mind's eye's never seen

But I thought the time had passed
So I had let it go
Forgetting me, not giving me any hope
Dreams I've seen
Passion wouldn't let me go
And now I see….

All of the choices…
I need to make one now
Gotta work it out somehow
To keep alive, the hope, the dream
The faith I believe…
Need to turn this thing around
Break the chain of fear that's holding me now
And the time to make a change has come around

Finally,
I realize and awaken
Fight for harmony
Another chance that's all worth taking

I, honestly
Live the need for elation
I still believe
That I can get to where I want to be


7. CYNICAL LIMIT

In an ordinary time
Wasted pleas make for
Unordinary crime

Blind, a fight that goes unseen
Corruption prevails
With justice inbetween

Now, so it's the sentencing
That breaks the spirit
And 25 to life's the limit
Becoming more each day a cynic
Pleaing for appeals to right the way

Authority has stripped away the meaning
All is lost inside I'm screaming
Reality is slipping mainly
Because each day to day seems all the same

Voice of fear
Warning as I approach my cynical limit
No one here
To give me comfort and heal the pain
Drawing near
The face that I will take on when I make the decision
Choice is clear
Survivals gotta come into play

When the ordinary cry
By man made injustice
The light of hope will die

Sought, by those who crave the need
A justice prevails
In realms that go unseen

Now, so it's the menacing
Of men who hear it
And all who try to break their spirit
Becoming more each day a cynic
Laying there in wait for other prey

Society has all condemned the witness
A losing case has now no basis
Committing more each day the chase is
Coming to an end just like you said……


8. TONIGHT

Sometimes nothing works out right
And sometimes all the cards just fall into play
In life, trusting fate just don't feel right
Cause it all comes down to the choices that you make

Honesty, integrity
The players in the game of life

When all the dreams you hope for fade away

When all the ones you trust in turn away

Sometimes we'd rather sit and wonder why
Instead of reaching beyond the limits we make
The crime, the crime of fear can paralyze
Cause we end up living with the choices that we make

Honestly, when you see
A chance for breaking free, you try


9. WAR KEEPS RAGING

Sea of dreams
Lost it seems
Gone with the tide
Taken by the storm
But in the wake of it all there's still more

Holding true
In a sea of blue
Color has changed
But it looks as it did before
Still the conflict engages
A heart that is breaking

Need to feel like there's something here
Hear the voice and not feel the stare
Hold the torch for a chance to see
Making light in a darkened dream

On the line
Where the wounded cry
Battles carry on
Cause deep inside
Where the pain resides
Seems like hope has gone

On the line
Where the hopeless try
Every night is long
Looking through the eyes
Of broken ties
The war keeps raging on

Fighting to stay
In the light of day
Losing the vision
Of dreams from the night before
But it keeps coming back more and more

I hear that voice again
Where do we go from here
Once again
I need to hold and feel it deep within
It's making things so unclear

But I just can't let it go
It's the only world I know

It's beyond this feeling I've reached
It's way beyond a dream

For what I've got to give
Losing is all I fear
