Into light of the day

Leave the shadows behind
And conquer the silence

Dark clouds
Cover the sky
In the dark
Rain falls
To the ground
Without a sound
Laughter died away
By cries of pain
Dark clouds
Block the sun
No light
Left to fight
Make a sound
To be found
Cries of laughter
By children of disaster

I climbed to the cliff nearby and gazed upon the smoking ruins.
I saw fields filled with bodies.
All that we knew was lost. I turned my back and walked away.
