1. THE END OF DAYS

After our days, and the fall of man
One day this will heal again
Beasts crawl forth over desert clay
And mankind will be nature's prey
Ruined towns break forth in vines;
Trees, leaves, fleet combine
Humankind will have lost its sway--
The world again will be theirs one day!

Ooh-ee-eh ooh ah

Skeletons of rust reach for the sky
Ruined empires of days gone by
Dreams of lives buried in the sand
The end of days will have been long planned
Our children's children have passed away
Their auspicious lives lost in the fray
Carrion birds are all at play--
The world again will be theirs one day!

Ooh-ee-eh ooh ah

Nomadic tribes of the last of man
Pull their caravans across the sand
Gypsy wives hold their children tight
As the new superpower howls through the night
Gods watch from above and wonder what went wrong
The entropy of what once was strong
Now the survivors of man stay up late to pray
That the world will again be theirs one day!

Ooh-ee-eh ooh ah

2. NEOBEDOIN

We're the nomads, the Neobedouins
Don't want to end up dead again
On this night we've traveled far
Over desert wastelands, prairie grasslands
Traverse the silken endless sands
We've survived this global scar!

Running daily, hunted nightly
I know we must stay sprightly
Our numbers thinning every day
So in tether, we dance together
Our bonds have forged all weather
Ours is the law that we obey

And so we dance
We play
We fight
We run
We breathe
We outlast
The storm!

We dance
We play
We fight
We run
We breathe
We outlast
The storm!

Running daily, hunted nightly
We know we must stay sprightly
Our numbers thinning day by day
So in tether, we dance together
Our bonds have forged all weather
Ours is the law that we obey

And so we dance
We play
We fight
We run
We breathe
We outlast
The storm!

We dance
We pray
We fight
We run
We breathe
We outlast
The storm!

We're the nomads, the Neobedouins
I don't want to end up dead again
On this night we've traveled far
Over desert wastelands, prairie grasslands
Traverse the silken endless sands
We've survived this global scar

And so we dance
We play
We fight
We run
We breathe
We outlast
The storm!

We dance
We play
We fight
We run
We breathe
We outlast
The storm!

3. THE WRATH OF FATE

The rain was blowing
The lightning cracked
All the windows smashed
With sails scorched or barely there
All our hopes were dashed
With tethered lines and planking charred
The ship stayed on its course
Our fires lit, the clouds around,
And we felt deep remorse

But the crew stayed at its post
And the Captain at his wheel!
We all endured the wrath of fate
But thought our fate was sealed
A chain’s as weak as its weakest link
And rust did cut us through
But strength in arms and hearts and heads
Held 'cause our course was true

A traitor lay within our midst and stirred unrest within
From vanity or selfishness or any other sin
With fires set and lanyards cut
The traitor did jump ship
And left the blazing falling corpse
Of vessel in our grip

But the crew stayed at its post
And the Captain at his wheel!
We all endured the wrath of fate
But thought our fate was sealed
A chain’s as weak as its weakest link
And rust did cut us through
But strength in arms and hearts and heads
Held 'cause our course was true

And down we plunged, a fireball
A skeletal frame of ash
With airbags burst three thousand feet
All our hopes were dashed
Nothing could keep that ship aloft
So, so down we crashed
Five hundred fathoms down we fell
Toward briny deep we splashed!

But the crew stayed at its post
And the Captain at his wheel!
We all endured the wrath of fate
But thought our fate was sealed
A chain’s as weak as its weakest link
And rust did cut us through
But strength in arms and hearts and heads
Held 'cause our course was true

The ocean hit like wall of stone
The creak of timbers like banshee's moan
But through the resolve of the Captain’s crew
Waves broke bow and then withdrew

The mast was charred but still so strong
So sails we did raise
The windows gone above waterline
The water quenched the blaze
With lightning bolts quite far aloft
And gentle wind below
The Captain’s crew and battered ship
Sailed into sunset’s glow

But the crew stayed at its post
And the Captain at his wheel!
We all endured the wrath of fate
But thought our fate was sealed
A chain’s as weak as its weakest link
And rust did cut us through
But strength in arms and hearts and heads
Held 'cause our course was true

But strength in arms and hearts and heads
Held 'cause our course was true

4. I'VE BEEN WRONG BEFORE

I don't believe in UFOs and little men from Mars
I don't believe in magic lamps bought at junk bazaars
I don't believe the world will ever be without a war
I don't believe a lot of things--
But I've been wrong before!

I don't believe the souls of man can haunt you after life
I don't believe the world hangs on the edge of a knife
I don't believe we should stop thinking for an oath we swore
I don't believe a lot of things--
But I've been wrong before!

People tell me their crazy yarns
Like ghosts, and gods, and ESP, and UFOs in barns
Half this crap has turned out true--
If you close your mind at this point, the only fool is you!

I don't believe a God above invented all that's good
I don't believe that there's a need to rush from childhood
I don't believe the world began with a lion's roar
I don't believe a lot of things--
But I've been wrong before!

People tell me their crazy yarns
Like ghosts, and gods, and ESP, and UFOs in barns
Half this crap has turned out true--
If you close your mind at this point, the only fool is you!

I don't believe it's always kind to say the nicest thing
I don't believe a "sugar lie" is awe-inspiring
I don't believe in posing kind and sneaking out the door
I don't believe a lot of things--
But I've been wrong before!

5. INSIDE THE CAGE

Spoken:
Guard alert: escape, block six-one-six
Guard alert: escape, block six-one-six

6. FIGHT OR FLIGHT

I fear what they'd do if they find I've escaped
I fear what they'd say if they find I play, I get scraped
They want you to think it's possible to live a life without their chains
But if you, if you go too far, you'll find they're pulling on your reins

I fear what they'd do if they finally catch me
I fear they'd take my home if they find I roam, find I'm free
They want you to think it's possible to live a life without their chains
But if you, if you go too far, you'll find they're pulling on your reins

But if they catch me, I will fight, I will run
I will burrow underground
They won't catch me, I need hope, I need air
And I won't, I won't make a sound

I fear the life I know if they make me go back
I fear I couldn't stand any more of the stifling black
They want you to think it's possible to live a life without their chains
But if you, if you go too far, you'll find they're pulling on your reins

But if they catch me, I will fight, I will run
I will burrow underground
They won't catch me, I need hope, I need air
I won't, I won't make a sound

I fear what they'd do if they find I've escaped

7. VICTORIAN VIGILANTE

Each night as I go walking
I hear the dead men talking
They tell me of all your misdeeds
Lead me to all your leads

Each night as I go walking underneath the lamplight
I bring my baritsu and I'm ready for a fight
My boots are shining brown
And my cane's of oak
I'll unleash some hurting on you,
Justice I'll invoke!

'Cause I'm a Victorian vigilante,
Bring some justice on your head
From the palace to the riverside,
For your troubles you'll get led

A Victorian vigilante,
Bring some justice on your head
From the palace to the riverside,
For your troubles you'll be dead

Cutscene: your victim's dethroned!
Dripping ice hook on crimson cobblestones
Wipe your hands on the dead man's greatcoat
And dive into the sewer's black boat

All your steps have led me to this spot
You hide your tracks but there's one that you forgot
Drag your dripping coat out of the water black
But I stand waiting, and I'm on the attack!

'Cause I'm a Victorian vigilante,
Bring some justice on your head
From the palace to the riverside,
For your troubles you'll get led

A Victorian vigilante,
Bring some justice on your head
From the palace to the riverside,
For your troubles you'll be dead

Pacing slowly round each other in the rain
Our eyes are locked as you unsheathe your sword cane
We know each other, although we've never met
An ice cold gaze you won't soon forget

You swing and thrust, I wrap you in my coat
I'm suddenly behind you, and my blade is at your throat
You kick and swing your fists and blade and shoe
But all your twitching and pulling has cut your neck in two

'Cause I'm a Victorian vigilante,
Bring some justice on your head
From the palace to the riverside
For your troubles you'll get led

A Victorian vigilante,
Bring some justice on your head
From the palace to the riverside,
For your troubles you'll be dead

9. LETTERS BETWEEN A LITTLE BOY AND HIMSELF AS AN ADULT

Robert as boy:
Dear Mr. Brown,
One day I’ll be you and
Although I’m only eight now,
You need to hear my rules
Never stop playing
Never stop dreaming and
And be careful not to
Turn into what I’d hate

Robert as adult:
Dear little boy,
I’m doing my best up here but
It’s a thankless job and
Nobody feels the same
You work long hours
Watch your credit rating
Pay your taxes and
Prepare to die

Jody Ellen:
I have tried to keep my soul
I lost the fight to keep a hold
Now I am not awake
Now I’m not awake

Robert as boy:
Hey Mr. Brown,
That can't be what life is like!
I’ve watched some movies,
And I've, I’ve read some books
Life should be exciting
And sometimes scary but
What you’re describing doesn't
Seem worth the time

Robert as adult:
Hey little boy,
I think you are always right
I’ve dropped that worthless life and
I’m moving on
Life should be adventure
I’m stealing back my soul
I’ve lost too many years now
I’m awake

Robert and Jody Ellen:
You were right
I nearly lost my soul
I will fight to steal back my soul
Now I am awake
Now I’m awake

10. BEAUTIFUL DECLINE

Fingers of rust gently intertwine
Lace the seams of sacrifice in beautiful decline
Catalysis of creations of all that was mankind
Pull our corruption towards nature,
The state that's predefined

Rust forms, bringing it all down
Wood rots, and into the ground
Flesh falls; life's decomposed
Then nature's again exposed

All that floats upon the sea, all that hangs in the air
All that sits in dust or dirt eventually ensnared
The gentle touch of time will take you unaware
Pulling all creations down, an elegant affair

Rust forms, bringing it all down
Wood rots, and into the ground
Flesh falls; life's decomposed
Then nature's again exposed

Rust forms, bringing it all down
Wood rots, and into the ground
Flesh falls; life's decomposed
Then nature's again exposed

Pleasant patina pulls apart a holy copper shrine
Like gently creeping mossy claws, scarring all divine
All the things you think you value, including the gift of life
Slowly, gently fall apart, 'til the world is right

Rust forms, bringing it all down
Wood rots, and into the ground
Flesh falls; life's decomposed
Then nature's again exposed

Rust forms, bringing it all down
Wood rots, and into the ground
Flesh falls; life's decomposed
Then nature's again exposed

Rust forms, bringing it all down
Wood rots, and into the ground
Flesh falls; life's decomposed
Then nature's again exposed

Rust forms, bringing it all down
Wood rots, and into the ground
Flesh falls; life's decomposed
Then nature's again exposed

11. OFF THE GRID

I've unplugged my brain
Unjacked my psyche, I've
Stopped being crazy but I'm
One of very few; I won't
Sell my freedom for
Things I never wanted,
Won't be a slave, with any luck
Those days are through--

I've packed my bags
Brought back my pride
I'd rather live in rags
Than throw my dreams aside!
I've packed my bags
Brought back my pride
I'd rather live in rags

Hey hey hey hey
Doot doo doo doo doo doo

I was told that it's
Safest to bury your
Dreams with commitments that
Never were your muse,
But how safe is it
To make a man with
Dreams beyond what
He's allowed to choose?

I've packed my bags
And brought back my pride
I'd rather live in rags
Than throw my dreams aside!
I've packed my bags
Brought back my pride
I'd rather live in rags

Hey hey hey hey
Doot doo doo doo doo doo

Some nobody sits in a
Beige carpet box, doing
Nothing to buy something
He will never use, well I would
Be someone
Instead of buy something...

Hey hey hey hey
Doot doo doo doo doo doo

12. TO THE APOCALYPSE IN DADDY'S SIDECAR

We’ve got 3 wheels and a frame of rust
Blue skies above, and behind us dust
Half a tank of gas won’t carry us far,
But you're safe till apocalypse in Daddy's sidecar

Got shotgun shells and 12 cans of beans,
And an old stuffed doll coming ’part at her seams
Your little lace dress you’ve worn for too far
As you watch the apocalypse from Daddy's sidecar

Life once had us held far too confined
We’ve left job and school far, far behind
You chew your gum as I chew my cigar,
As you ride the apocalypse in Daddy's sidecar

We swam the whole day in Oasis’s pool
The shades beneath the palms became our home-school
We danced past bed time at a desert bazaar,
Now you nod your head in Daddy's sidecar

13. SPACE COWBOY

Fly on, cowboy of the stars
Sail past Mercury, under Mars
Burning heat shields glowing bright
Like a firework in the night

Nothing to see but scabs and scars
Under the Milky Way, under Mars
Rusty bolts hold rusty walls
If it unscrews, the whole world falls...
