After that weak first effort for Ramp, the band grew up a lot and they understood that it was time to stop pretending they were the bands they loved, and chose their own path. Good choice i'd say, because "Intersection" is a solid work in which everything is better than the previous album. There is absolutely nothing worse here!

The vocals are much better, sound much louder, much more powerful, the guitar work is more solid with better riffs, overall sound is more dense, muscular, and therefore this is a far better metal album. If you want to compare the band with some other band, it's not so easy now, you can still find a bit of Metallica here and there, maybe some Fear Factory too... But the band now has it's own path.

The opener "All man taste hell" is a classic, one of the best songs ever written by Portuguese metal bands and is a great way to show the band's new sound. Then you are surprised by "Own way", "Black Tie" and "So you say" which are all very well elaborated, with strong riffs and good vocals. Also "Trip" has a great rhythm and I like the distorted vocals in this one. Great track with it's crescendo and great guitar riffs.

Worst moments in the album are "Like you" (i found this song to be boring and repetitive, although the guitars are really strong and there's also a good drum work), "Win" which somehow lacks power and sounds more like a "side-b" than an album song due to weak vocals and some kind of disconnection between the song sections. The last song is also off my taste. Never liked this kind of songs where the chorus yells words between the main vocals... well, maybe on Metallica's "Creeping Death", but that's other story...

Almost in the end of the album, the band returned to their power-ballads in "Friendly word", and hell!... how I wish that "The Last Child" from their first album was produced like this one! It's not brilliant, but it is a good track with it's mournfull rhythm, good vocals and great guitar work.

Three years between "Thoughts" and "Intersection" were an incredible cure for Ramp: the band doesn't seem the same and they got it right, completely right, even with a good production. This album is a must listen to every metalhead who'd like to listen to one of the last heritages of thrash metal.
