biografía : Zeus (UK)

Zeus was formed in January 1991 by Mike Mayers, they termed their music as dark metal due to the dark subjects of the lyrics, as well as a relatively different musical style. Zeus recorded their first demo "Clandestine Existence" in 1992 and though it was an amateur sounding demo it had signs of where the band were heading. The demo received some record label interest at the time and in April 1993 Zeus supported Gorguts and Blasphemy among others at the George Robey venue in London.

Some time after this due to several line-up problems Mike decided to record their second demo "Fear" alone in May 1997. The "Fear" demo received good reviews in the underground press as well as receiving a 4 out of 5 review in Kerrang from Malcolm Dome. "Fear" also received a good review in Terrorizer magazine. Several tracks from the "Fear" demo appeared on numerous compilations- No Holy Additives 2 and 3 as well as Shadows of Michelangelo zine compilation cd in the U.S. Finally in September 1997 Zeus were offered a 3 album record deal by Greek label Unisound Records, but were later to hear they were an unreliable and unsuitable label for Zeus to sign to.

In 1999 Mike went about returning Zeus to a full band line up, and after playing several gigs around England with a full line up they recorded the third Zeus demo "Fragments Of A Broken Mind" in 2002. Tracks from this demo appeared on No Holy Additives vol.4 compilation, as well as having 2 tracks on Terrorizer mag cover CDs namely "Dragged Under" and "Victims of Circumcision". Zeus were voted 3rd best unsigned band in Terrorizer readers poll 2001.
