The Story Of The Three Wolves

Hailing from the deep dark woods of Aurskog-Høland, Vargariket was created by Sturlason and Turgeis (Sønsthagen) in 1995. The idea was to play fast and furious old-skool black metal and in the beginning they both switched between playing the drums and the guitars. Strømsæther came along asking if they needed a drummer and Vargariket as presented on these recordings were born.

Strømsæther, who hadn’t played drums previously, learned the ropes with the band - steering away from the traditional black metal drumming and forming a rather unique drumming style with a kind of off-beat and much more laid back drumming than what the genre is typically known for. A new sub-genre was born: Aasgård Metal.

The band got a lot of reviews and interviews with fanzines from all over the world. Demo ‘96, which came on professionally printed tapes and with glossy fold-out covers, sold in 1000 copies - leading to a Portuguese company promising to release the next demo. However, after the master was sent off nothing happened. Later the band signed a deal with HammerHeart Records in Belgium but that deal got cancelled by the label for reasons still unknown. At the same time, Strømsæther moved to do civil duty. Later Turgeis and Sturlason joined to serve the army resulting in Vargariket being put on indefinite hold.

All demo and unreleased tracks will be released on Digipack-CD by Cold Northern Breeze Records in late 2021.
