Trooper is a Heavy Metal band from Targoviste,Romania.The name of the band is taken from the Iron Maiden song , "The Trooper".

History

1995-2001
The band which later will take the name Trooper was formed in 1995, October 25th by brothers Alin and Aurelian Sinca together with Ionuţ "Oscar" Rădulescu to play Heavy Metal like their idols Iron Maiden or/and Judas Priest.
Initially, the band was called Megarock then White Wolf, but as soon as Ionuţ 'Negative' Fleancu joined , the name Trooper ramained for good.
Since 1996 the band began to performe gigs, with 4 members, but the need for a second guitar was obviously so Ispas Gabriel joined.
In 1997 they release the first demo called Trooper's demo with 3 songs. Right after recording that demo, Gabriel was replaced with Radu "Schija" Pites, and the band goes on like this for many concerts, the reveiling one being open-act for Iris (great Romanian Heavy Metal band).
In 1999 Ionuţ Fleancu and Radu Pites leave the band and Ionuţ "John" Covalciuc and Laurenţiu Popa join in their place.
In Mai 2001 they record another demo "Trooper 2001" with the songs "No tomorrow", "Majesty", "Life and death", "Horizons" (Romanian and English version), "Lacrima" (The Tear) and "Possessed" on it.This is an important period for Trooper, they sing with some other big groups or underground groups like Taine, God, Indian Fall, Iris, Quartz, Interitus Dei, Negura Bunget. In short time the song "Orizonturi" (Horizons) benefits a videoclip made by a Romanian Tv-station, TVR2.

2002-2004
Begining with 2002, the Metal webzine HMM wil begin promoting Trooper so the EP Trooper is released, and a premiere for Trooper, all the lyrics are in Romanian.Many and important concerts and Metal-festivals go on after this EP (Cluj, Buzău, Sibiu, Bucureşti etc.).
17 October 2002, the first full-lenght album "I" (1) ...althou on the album cover there`s no named specified.At the great launch of the album were present the people who helped the band make it : Lenti Chiriac (MTV, Radio I-III), Doru Ionescu (TVR), FSU (Radio III), Radio Da-Da, Radio Orion, Antena 1, Radio D, Geni Ghenciulescu, Petre Magdin, Pepino (Parlament) etc.
In 2003 they were considered the Best Romanian Metal Band, after a general oppinion test.
They play at some big Metal-festivals like Metalheart 4, Top T, Studio Rock Open Air,Stufstock 2 ... open-acts for Sepultura, Celelalte Cuvinte... (Megadeth,Helloween,King Diamond, W.A.S.P. ... in 2006 and 2006)They were disapointed to be canceled in open-acts for Blind Guardian (the concert was anuled)and Kreator (they were given too less time to play,so Trooper refused).

2004-2006
Their popularity is BIG already, every Romanian metalhead knows them.They`re invited everywhere to perform . Fans adore them because,although all the fame, the guys from Trooper remained the same old, sociable and pretty good drinking buddyes.
