Scent of Flesh was formed in 2000 in Imatra, Finland by six local metalheads. It was clear from the beginning that music style would be no less than death metal. After two demos ("Drowned Into The Darkness" and "Towards Eternal Lost") Black Lotus Records offered a recording agreement and the full length debut album "Roaring Depths Of Insanity" was released worldwide at the end of the year 2002. The album got much media attention and brilliant reviews.
Recordings for the second album "Valor in hatred" started in September 2003 in Music Bros studio and lasted for four weeks. After the album was recorded things between Scent Of Flesh and Black Lotus Records started to go bad and co-operation ceased working. Finally the release date was delayed enough and Scent Of Flesh decided to quit co-operation with the record company.

Negotiations with Firebox Records started immediately. The recording agreement for "Valor in hatred" was signed in March 2004.
