The Death Worshipping Cult
PSICORRAGIA
Death Doom Metal from Peru, South America

1994 was the year that Death and Doom Metal communed in Lima-Perú. Psicorragia started their story mixing the two styles that sickened the heads of the band founders. They searched members everywhere for the project but just found a permanent line-up in 1998. It was when Psicorragia released their first demo “Otoño” (Autumn) in cassette format. This material was well accepted by Peruvian and South American bangers.

That first step was important because it led the band to sign the contract for their debut album with an international label. Just very few Peruvian underground bands, until then, had made productions outside the country. The first album was called “La Pasión de lo Mortal” (The passion of the mortal) and it was distributed all over the world, that’s when the band got their first interviews in other languages. It was in 2001. During those years, Psicorragia was travelling all over Peru and playing along with other foreign bands like Dismember (Sweden), Pandemia (Czech Republic) and others.

Then in 2005, Psicorragia recorded “Presagios de Agonía” (Agony portent) EP in his own home studio. That has been the highest experimentation level so far with aggressive sounds and symphonic instruments and voices, also including depressive and densely heavy instrumentation.

Later, Peruvian labels were interested in producing the band’s reissues. That’s how the first two Psicorragia productions were reissued in one CD called "Ruina y Muerte... el génesis" (Doom and Death... the genesis). In 2012, Psicorragia realeased “Sátira Macabre” EP which included the band’s first video and it was also the first digipack edition of the band.

Continuing the reissues, In 2015 Presagios de Agonía EP special edition digipack went on sale, which included several bonus tracks, among them a version of Unguy Maman and Mother of Disease, which were part of the Tribute album to Mortem. Months later Psicorragia participated in the Tribute to My Dying Bride with the song Your River.

The last hymn to Death: Madremuerte

Shortly afterwards, the band initiated conversations with two labels: Postunder (Peru – tied label with Icarus Music that works with Anal Vomit and Necropsya) and MFL Records (Russia – label specialist in Doom Metal), to produce the band’s second album in their own countries. After 14 years, Psicorragia has released their second full-length album called Madremuerte leading Death and Doom metal to extremes. Some Black Metal elements, dark choirs and gloomy sounds complete this tribute to death. The album has good reviews in magazines and sites around the world, like Legacy (GER), Zero Tolerance (UK), among others. Plus, the work it’s being distributed in different countries.

The most recent and important rituals of the band have been with great black legends. Psicorragia has been the opening band for Mayhem (De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas Latin American tour) and Acheron in its exclusive visit to Peru. Also the band was present in Lima Metal Fest 2016 with great bands like Sadistic Intent and Totten Korps.

Psicorragia has also been featured recently on the covermount CD of Zero Tolerance Magazine - issue 079 (UK)
