Necromancer was formed in middle of 1986 when the brothers Luiz Fernando and Luiz Cláudio joined some common friends and schoolmates to start a band initially called Kamikaze. The original lineup was: Marcelo Coutinho (vocals), Robert Haulfon (guitar), Luiz Fernando (guitar), Alex Rocha (bass), and Luiz Cláudio (drums). Their initial idea was to work within the genres Thrash/Death Metal with influences from bands like Slayer, Kreator and Destruction.

Still in 1986, they recorded their first demo tape called Demo I with the songs: Ameaça Assasina and Carrasco (Mensageiro do Fim), both in Portuguese, but even though it has had a good acceptance,they decided to start composing in English. Then, in 1987, they recorded their second demo tape
called NECROMANCER with three songs: Dark Church, Necromancer and Murderous Threat. At thattime, the band managed to make disclosure of their demo in some radio stations in Brazil. During this year, Paulo André left the band, but was quickly replaced by Gustavo Fernandez on the bass. By the
end of 1988, due to some musical differences Robert Haulfon and Luiz Cláudio left the band and the remaining members started to face a lot of difficulties to find new musicians willing to work seriously,so they decided to break up the band.

In 1993, Luiz Fernando, Gustavo and Marcelo decided to try to gather the band again and they invited Mauricio Meloni (guitar) and Alex Kafer (drums) to join the band. During the mid-90s, they released two demo tapes:
- Science of Fear with three songs: Desert Moonlight, Internal Maze and Science of Fear.
- Victims of Deranged Maneuverings with four songs: Plundered Society, Deadly Symbiosis, Terminal State and Dark Church.These tapes had a good acceptance in the underground world and the band was able to set some
gigs in Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo with bands like: MX, Dorsal Atlântica, Multilator, Explicit Hate, Deathrite, Viper, Sigrid Ingrid and Prime Mover.

In 2012, the group received a proposal for launching a CD - by the label Heavy Metal Rock- with some songs from the old demo tapes that should be re-recorded, and also some other old material not recorded yet.

Currently, the band is working on a new material, but keeping the original idea of playing Thrash/Death Metal and the lineup is: Marcelo Coutinho (vocals), Luiz Fernando and Eduardo Lopes (guitars), Gustavo Fernandez (bass) e Alex Käfer (drums).
