Comming from Drummondville, Mortalys is a death/black metal band with touch of melodic folk. The band’s influences are as multiple than diversified. The band is making as best as they can to demarcate with the originality of their melodies and their clear worked live sound.
In 2005, this project is created by Kryst-O-Fer B. (guitars) student in music at the Drummondville’s college. After a lot of lone creations, he decide to create his own band to concretize his inspiration in a true future project. After this, multiple talented musicians (especially guitarists) participate at the organisation and the elaboration of the first outlines of Mortalys’ style but mo true formation as ever di dit and survive to become a serious project. The year 2006 as been the real born of the band uniting Kryst-O-Fer B. (guitars) Maxime Perron (guitars), Marc-Olivier Crépeau (bass) and Jean-François Veilleux (drums). All these musicians has different influences and bring the formation’s colors. Here is a mix of death and black comming from the two guitarists, a good rended trash sound from the drummer and a touch of punk-funk adapted by the bassist. This whole musical styles mix is really homogeneous and fluid, wich satify a larger public.
2007 is known as beaing the true Mortalys’ start with the elaboration of four complete songs. There’s still one element missing, the vocal. A few days before the fist band’s gig at the waterfall’s maple at Upton, the fifth member finnaly joins the band. The formation finnaly owns their signer, Jimmy Villemure who delivered a solid and incisive performance with his engaged and rhytmed text, violent and unfortunately too rare in Quebec… in french!!! Mortalys proudly opens the Quévillion 2007 metalfest on Tuesday jully 19th and played with the big brothers Talamyus and Neuraxis on april eleventh 2008 at Trois-Rivières. The band is reasoned to hell to continue on the north’s road because this event will tight our links.
After a few most sympatic shows, (The promo launch attracted 275 persons!!!) the band just made a bad turn who’s gonna be critical for the formation. All the members leaves Drummondville for academic reasons. It’s now time to see what the future has for us. No decision as been take for the band’s future.
