Midian was born in the fall months of 1995 with the idea that garage bands stay in the garage, and working bands work. Under this belief, Midian has always exerted itself to the fullest, dedicated to becoming an influential and respected part of the extreme music scene. The convergence of four members, all from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, brought the legal entity of Midian of Milwaukee to a reality. Soon after, the first demo, entitled The Dark Side of Man, was released. The band spent the next year supporting this demo, appearing with many local and international bands, and earning the respect of many industry minds. Eventually, Midian lost two of its original members and were forced to seek new talent. In the early months of 1999, two new members were added to the band, bringing the concentration of the music to a new found level of intensity. Midians self-titled demo was released shortly after this.

The philosophy within Midians music serves as an intelligent, emotional, and aggressive expression of ideas, both personal and universally significant. Their musical foundation stems from a vast array of influences, yet remains intent on creating intense and hard-hitting music. Bands such as Cryptopsy, Acid Bath, Machine Head, and Dillinger Escape Plan have served as influences for Midian, and set the basis for the versatility and aggression they possess. While Midian has moved beyond "garage band" status, they still strive to affect more minds and touch more souls with their musical offering. This challenge they meet head on.
