Alabres, Provence, Plague seen by Michel de Notre-Dame « Nostradamus » all those build the foundations of the band’s universe.



In our supericial world, the « Alabres», who come from the Provence area, want to revive simple values from the past. These doctors will carry you into a medieval world of sounds. The adventure of the “Alabres“ dates back to May 2006, which marked the “folk” encounter of two drinkers. Here is their story.


The Dénatured (singer of Aposthem) met the Bateleur during a gig by Khrom – he was both the singer and keyboard musician – at the Rock Live, Indiana Coffee in la Valette. In front of some good pints of beer, they discussed the subject of the promotion of Metal music in the south of France. In June 2006, during a gig organized by the Toulon Khromatik with bands like “Crtl-Alt-Supp”, “Khrom” and “Open Project”, the Dénatured got involved in the scheme. After some more pints of beer, and a bear’s dance, it finally become obvious that a new band of French FolK Metal had to be set up !!!


One month later, the famous Pagan celebration of Music was organized in la Garde (Var), including 6 bands, among which Slackness, Khrom, Letharsis, Aposthem, Hindvir and Brain Melting. After some more pints of beer and tumblers of whisky, the project of the band Folk Metal took shape, and the first rehearsals started at the beginning of September 2006.


Later, in January 2007, the Bateleur took up the bass; one of the doctors (musicians) of the band, who had formerly been the singer of “Slackness” and was quite comfortable with a piano, took up the keyboard. The compositions became more elaborate and refined, and a second guitar player joined the band so as to strenghten the tunes.


The Feticheur, a guitar player from “Slackness” joined the band. The year 2007 was devoted to improving the writing, and recording the ‘demo !


Finally, the band tested its work during a live performance at the Dan Racing (Marseilles) in October 2007.


The concept of the “Alabres” stems from the Physicians of the Plague epidemic at the time of Nostradamus. The prevailing atmosphere is that of the “Medieval Renaissance” characterized by a dark side due to the Black Death, dire poverty and the overbearing presence of the Church.
