biografía : Hymir (NL)

2005-2006: HYMIR formed at the end of 2005 in Utrecht, The
Netherlands by Pablo de Groot on guitar/vocals and Per
Hoogendoorn on the drums after their previous band had come
to an end. Bob Kuitenbrouwer joined on bass and Kay van Kalsbeek on guitar (both from their previous band). As the band developed their sound, they soon recognized the need to expand. so Thomas Dirkse joined them, making their music a lot more versatile.

After a long time writing songs and rehearsing, it was finally time to perform in front of a live audience. therefore, they figured that it should be nice if they would have a guitar player to substitute Pablo's guitar playing, so that he could fully concentrate on the vocals. Daan Douma (from the band "Decisive Intrusion") first appeared as a session member for the gigs, but he soon was the perfect men for the job.

After their first gig (July 2006), it was quiet among Hymir for a couple of months. Thomas and Kay left due to different musical preferences and several other reasons. From that moment on, they started ALL over again with the writing process and had made new plans for the future Hymir. After that, Kay came back and Tom Gorissen replaced Thomas as Hymir's new keyboard player.

2007: At January of 2007, Hymir recorded their first EP, naming it 'Perish'. An aggressive album influenced by different sorts of metal and the ROMAN EMPIRE. It was instantly available at cd-shops in Utrecht and Amsterdam (Boudisque)and was promoted as a Recommended METAL Album of the month'.

Meanwhile, Hymir had decided to move on without Bob Kuitenbrouwer as their bass player and had started looking for a new one. They found Alexander Leune as their new bass player, providing more power within their music then before. During the process of writing new material for their next production, (which is going to be a full-length album) they decided to move on without Daan Douma due several reasons.

So far for now..
