biografía : Diavolopera

DIAVOLOPERA is a Polish symphonic rock/metal band from Gdynia. The band was formed in 2009 and released a debut album, entitled Preludium, in 2013.
In November 2013, the band parted company with their previous singer and announced a casting for a new vocalist. Ania Blomberg-Gahan, ex-singer of Batalion d’Amour (PL) and Dance on Glass (UK) joined them as lead singer in December 2014. The band since recorded two new singles, Broken and When Secrets Burn and is concentrating on writing brand new songs and will play their debut gig with current line-up with the best-known Polish gothic band, Closterkeller. Although rehearsing is not easy (Ania lives in Katowice, which is about 600 km from Gdynia) the band co-operates using modern technology (ie good old Internet) to exchange MP3 files and meets once a month for a weekend of intense rehearsals.
Diavolopera has been described as influenced by bands such as Lacuna Coil, Evanescence, Within Tempation, however, with Ania being influenced by more traditional gothic rock acts (The Sisters of Mercy, Siouxsie, The Cure, Joy Division, All About Eve) the group’s style has changed slightly since Ania joined the band - there is more traditional gothic elements in its music, and the band gained a very strong fanbase among fans of Ania’s previous bands.
Diavolopera describes its style simply as hard rock/ metal with symphonic and electronic elements. The band’s musicians all come from differents musical backgrounds - the bass player, Miroslaw Abramowicz, is a jazz musician, the lead guitarist, Rob Norden, is a proper metalhead and has his own ‘viking metal’ side project, called Norden, keyboardist, Tomasz Bartoszek’s favourite kind of music is electro and Ania is a real goth-chick, although she loves heavier bands, too.
