biografía : Demis

Demis started to play the guitar at the age of 15. He decided to start playing the instrument when he began to notice it's fantastic sound which fascinated him. Back then he listened to a lot of rock music; Guns n' Roses, Iron Maiden and Metallica which where the first rock bands that attracted him and many others in that same era. At the age of 15 a friend of his bought an electric guitar and when he saw it and listened to it he was blown away and fascinated. It was the first time he had ever heard an electric guitar live. After that experience he had to have one no matter what. He started on an acoustic classic guitar which his cousin owned but didn't use anymore for several years and took it away. Listening to more music such as Helloween, Dream Teathre, Paradise Lost, White Lion, Skid Row, Extreme, Candle Mass, Solitude Aeternus, Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, Yngwie Malmsteen, Tony Mcalpine, Micheal Schencker, Savatage etc... and later on to blues, Jazz, Funk and a number of different styles he started to advance from a few chords to other techniques. Demis decided to take it seriously immediatly and started to practice not less than seven hours a day and trying out several techniques.

After 2 years Demis joined his first band - 'Myst' - which lasted about five years and then another five years with 'Sidereal'. However, never managing to record any album he decided to do his own thing and realize one of his long desired dreams ie. A solo album.

Demis' philosphy - Music is fantastic because it is a means of expression and because it is endless in it's diversity. Those musicians who look down on other musicians as if they are at a lower level because they play with less technical ability are ignorant and should stop playing until they learn what music is all about. Every person is precious because of his/her uniquness and therefore his/her own way of expressing himself/herself is also unique. Then there are also those musicians who say that technical ability is nonsense and is there only for show off. I can tell to these musicians that music is also a discipline and to reach a high level standard, very hard work and practice is required. These are the musicians who are not ready to make sacrifices and want the easy way out. Whatever style you decide to take, please think twice before criticizing. Both ways of playing are good and have their own qualities. Musicians decide what is best for them but pride and jealousy should not take over respect.
