biografía : Death By Dawn

Death by Dawn history starts when Pippo Colapinto has to leave his home country Italy to stay out of the hands of lady Justice.. He threw all his belongings in his car; a toothbrush and a drumkit and headed for Germany because he thought he could find a band and a job easier over there. Well, he preferred a band, coz in Italy he already played in ?Ossian? and ?Sacral Death? and playing in a metal band meant everything to him.
After several bands he met Gino Core Leone who had played in bands like ?Mad Max? and ?Mirage? with which he recorded several albums, but at this stage Gino was considering playing metal more as he hobby. But Gino was an experienced bassplayer and the two of them started to write new songs.
Lots of line-up changes followed, but they didn?t seem to findanyone with the right attitude and skills.
Then a guitarplayer called markus joined them and the first songs were written in no time. All they needed now was a shouter, but again they couldn?t find no-one that fitted.
Meanwhile Pippo was working in The Netherlands and there he had a longhaired collegue of whom he was sure he had seen somewhere before. One day he saw the tattoo of the guy and he asked him what the drawing meant. ?It says Pestilence,? the guy answered: ?one of the bands iI used to sing in.?
Pippo couldn?t believe his luck and asked martin immediately to join Death by Dawn but he refused. He didn?t want to have anything to do with the ?whole shit musicindustry.? Pippo didn?t give up though..
So one morning pippo drove on the Autobahn and once again he was sick of it all. As usual he switched off his brain and suddenly there was an idea of a band name. ?I?m brain dead,? he thought ?every morning when I drive to work I die a little bit more, I am Death by Dawn.?
The boys now had sufficient material to enter a studio, but they still didn?t have a singer. Once again Pippo asked martin and this time he decided to do it. But only to help Pippo out for one time, coz the two of them became good friends in that period. Martin didn?t want to join the band, only to sing in the songs. So at Martin Hantuliks Tanztee studio in Rheine, Germany, Death by Dawn recorded their first 5-track demo. A new singer came and a few gigs followed, but the band wasn?t satisfied with their vocalist and after the second demo he left the band. Now they had the problem again of finding a replacement and they had some shows to do in Italy and Germany. And again Pippo asked Martin and again he decided to help them out. Martin learned all the tracks in a couple of days and together with Italian deathsters Mutala they absolved the shows. During those shows Martin had so much fun that he informed the rest that he would join them permanently.
Rapidly new songs were written and the the 3rd demo ?Dedicated To The Oppressed? was finished at the end of 2003. Several gigs followed until guitarplayer Markus spend more time with his girlfriend then with the band and so they fired him. The new axeman was Jens Geldon who learned all material in 3 rehearsalsession so they were able to do a show that was already booked. The chemistry between the boys was perfect and finally the nband seem to have the long desired line-up. Along with Jens came new songwriting ideas who were a lot heavier then all the stuff that the band recorded before.
But again bad luck came over Death by Dawn. Jens? wrist got seriously injured and at that point he wasn?t even sure if he would ever be able to handle his instrument again. The boys agreed to get themselves a extra guitarplayer so they could continue until Jens? wrist was healed. It was the only right solution and they hit the bullseye when they recruited Ingo Fussangel who, like Jens, one time played in Sudden Death. The songmaterial was a piece of cake for Ingo and he didn?t realy like the style the band was playing. So ingo didn?t really want to join. But it was all too late.... Two partys at Gino?s place and a Wacken later the boys knew this was the perfect line-up. Personally and musically.
Then finally Jens recovered from his injury and both axemen locked themselves in the rehearsalroom with a lot of alcohol and started to write new material. All worked out superbly and suddenly Death by Dawn the band was crazy 5-piece formation full of fresh energy and with hammering new songs.
The band now wanted to hit the studio as soon as possible with the new line up to record a 5 track demo, but then came the moment where Gino decided it was better for him to quit, as he wasn?t able to combine the band, his job and his family life. Another case of bad luck for DbD.
Now Stefan had helped the band out several times during live perfomances as a sort of crew member and it turned out the man was a helluva bassplayer.
So the men started rehearsing again, more live shows followed and then they were ready to record their 4th demo. Again at Martin Hantuliks Tanztee studio in Rheine and again all material was played and taped live.
Now coincidentially a friend of the band worked at STF records and she advised them to send the demo to the label. STF showed serious interest and after several positive meetings DbD and label decided to launch a 1st album. 4 more tracks were recorded at Martin?s Tanztee and later on with band and Gary Nagy mastered at Gerna Studio in Bochum.
The cd represents all that Death by Dawn stands for at this very moment: ultra-loud aggressive heavy/death/thrash/punk/rock?n?roll.
Since the 22nd of May the debut album: ?One hand, one foot and a lot of teeth? is in stores.
At this moment the boys are doing all shows they can absolve and are currently working on new material as well...
