biografía : Damien (GER-1)

6 Times Ambition, 6 Times Hope, 6 Musicians…Damien was born.

Spawned in the bowels of Pfaffenhofen a.d. Ilm, Damien ripped their way into the metal scene in 2006, winning ‘Audience Favourite' at the IN2ROCK Contest - and that on just their first gig!

Since then, they've become a fixture in the local and regional scene, opening for major bands such as Maroon, The Blackout Argument, Eisheilig, Death before Dishonor.

Just a few months after appearing as Special Guest at Bavarian Maxi DSL Contest, Damien shellacked the competition, and came in first at the 2007 Saitensprung Festival in their hometown.

The band went on the road in the fall of 2007, playing 20 gigs in southern Germany between September and the end of the year. Damien's impassioned performance of songs crafted over months from buckets of blood, sweat, and tears leaves their fans stumbling blissfully into the night, show after show.

Damien's demo-recording ‘Secrets' has sold in steady numbers, and their follow-up EP ‘Fright Back', released in March '08, promises to be an even greater success.

The unmistakable mix of grooving bass and drums, the bold ‘slightly Swedish' guitar sound, coupled with motley combinations of guttural shouting and melodious female vocals characterizes the band's sound. Catchy melodies have the audience swaying and bouncing, while the driving beat and uncompromising razor-sharp riffs virtually guarantee headbanging galore.

The sound hints at early Atreyu, Killswitch Engage, and Darkest Hour influences, is extremely imaginative, and has its roots in a variety of genres, including metalcore, emorock, and rock. Damien have amalgamated these into a modern metal sound that is very much their own.

Breakneck moves and maneuvers, which have caused the occasional minor flow of blood, are standard fare at their live-shows. Damien represent the best of up-and-coming metalcore. There is no standing still at their shows, and their powerful performances are guaranteed to leave their audiences sweaty, but happy. And on top of all that, they are damn fun!
