While it is true that the Burst history stems all the way back to 1993 when a band was formed out of the sheer enjoyment of crunching out intense music, the Burst of today realistically formed circa 1999. Some rather uninteresting releases had been put out, some touring had been done, and a lot of the seemingly inevitable disappointments that comes from trying your luck in the music industry had been experienced, Burst mark II was set into motion. A new musical focus was initiated, and brought with it the music released on the album “Conquest: Writhe” (Prank 2001, PFC 2001), the MCD “In Coveting Ways”(Chrome Saint Magnus 2002) and eventually, the album “Prey on Life” (Relapse 2003). These releases bear a resemblance in the form of a gradual growth in the use of dynamics, intensity and heavy dissonance and harmony mixed with melodious elements, but what the future may hold is uncertain.
