ATHLOS is an epic / folk / battle/ power metal act inspired by the ancient Hellenic myths and mythological tradition. The mastermind behind this undertaking is no other than Polydeykis of SACRED BLOOD. During his long and distinguished presence in the music scene Polydeykis has collaborated with acts like FOLKEARTH, ZION, MORPHEUS, METALLY INSANE and DOL AMROTH. He is the main composer and performer of most instruments in the album (accordion, flute, whistles, grand piano, keyboards) and also contributes to some of the vocal work of the album.

A long time friend has come to aid him in his musical quest, and that is the notorious writer and lyricist Marios Koutsoukos, (DOL AMROTH, FOLKEARTH) who has written the lyrics of the songs, thus giving to the final result an overwhelming boost with his brilliantly inspired verses.

The mixing, mastering as well guitar, drums and bass performance have been entrusted in the worthy hands of Athanasios Karapanos, the well known heavy metal and hip hop producer. Athanasios Karapanos is also a multi-talented musician participating in bands such as WINTER’S DAWN, ORION, SACRED BLOOD, FOLKEARTH & DOL AMROTH.

Beautiful bagpiping performed by Faerann, fulfills the enrichment of the songs with the unique sound of this exceptional instrument. Faerann is a guest musician hailing from the lands of France and plays different types of bagpipes and reeds.

The mighty growls of Aled Pashley (ANNWN, FOLKEARTH) hailing from Wales, adds a dramatic tone to the result while Hidr Valkyrie (HILD VALKYRIE, FOLKEARTH) offers her usual uprising epic choir vocals to boost the epicness of the effort.

Also introducing Kyveli (female vocals on "Song of the Elder"), Polydeykis' sister, one of the very unique and talented voices of the Hellenic underground scene.

Guest appearance by Mike Galiatsos (ex- NIGHTFALL, SNOWBLIND) at solo guitars in TAVROTHAPSIA track!

Finally, the beautiful soprano voice of Christine Katsamatsa comes to complete the soundscapes of ATHLOS and adds its unique charm to the orchestral grandeur of the compositions.

Particular care has been paid to the whole package of the album. Historical notes on each song are included in the booklet of the cd, in order for the listener to get fully acquainted with the world of Hellenic mythology, and by combining them with the lyrics, he can get a full picture of the mythological greatness of Ancient Hellas.
