Archaeus was formed by The Wanderer (guitar/tormented voices) and Tymnhir (drums) during the year 2000. As time was passing by, the concept of the band was becoming more precise thanks to the first creations that show the will to create something close to the bestiality in man. After some rehearsals with guitarist and bassist (David and Matthieu) a shitty demo was recorded on january 2001. Even with new members, the essence of Archaeus stayed on the founders" hands because of the extremist musically direction taken by them on the new compositions. All was about celling dense structures with the most bestiality and velocity possible and all with a nihilistic point of view between mind and instinct...

Later, we found another bassist (Tom) that seemed to fit more seriously with the band, and no long after we played our first concert in Strasbourg the 05/05/01. After two more live acts, David leaved the band but we finally felt a certain unity as a three-member band. It was the time to come up with another demo. We entered a studio in July 2001 to record our second demo called ""Unveiled, the Lust for Torments". Just after the release of the MCd, Tom felt like leaving the band "cause he couldn"t express himself like he expected to. Fortunatly, we found another bassist (Deimos) who joined the band in November 2001. After a lot of rehearsals with this new line-up, we were able to play some concerts near our town and in Belgium on the first half of 2002.

Since then, we took our time on a new effort with some new matterial; called "The Annihil Chapter: a source of Fire", this live recording should be considered as a Chapter for us, or a closed Revolution of ours. Its construction and progression can show you the negation of the Will to life which we follow... but here are some considerations about ARCHAEUS:

Archaeus is an immaterial power that stands in all life, and it"s what we call "elan vital" in French. It appears in all organic life as a power that cannot be lost, something that has always existed in each species, and that can always makes you have the will to act or to conserve your kind, even after a thousand generations. It is as a source of all being, something that cannot miss to create a living entity. But you can easily consider that there is a lot of distorted people on Earth from now, those spiritually Dead... but even if it seems to be Chaos, the Cosmic Order and its omnipotent principle of the "Will to Life" will take its dwell and Destroy you fools & blinds when the Day will come!

From a different approach, this growing Energy is something where you can only tend, but never reach in a human form of being; I call it a neverending experience (...). With this point of view, this power can emanate (and grow) from the contradiction of an atrophied reasonning and a develloped Instinct...

We are here to make WAR to decaying humans, unveiling the lust for Torments, showing you our Hatred.
