biografía : Archaea (SWE)

We are Archaea, and we bring you Metal Crushingly heavy, thickly atmospheric and darkly melodic. Our path started in early 2007, as we gathered to create our own sound and our own music, having a hell of a good time doing so. The Heidarsson and the Olevald brothers along with Johan Engström joined up and quickly formed a solid foundation of the band, which was perfected with Nils Bossius Klintenberg a year later. Our first year spawned an appetite for the live stage and a demo, Primary Excavation, that showed a young, vital and crude band. This, however, couldn't represent us for long as we improved and became increasingly more skilled and solid, honed both in live performance and in sound. We've gigged some of the major underground band venues in Gothenburg, Musikens Hus, Sticky Fingers and Brewhouse being only a few. Now, we present to you Evolution. The name of our second EP reflects the band's progression, in music and sound as well as the members' development as musicians and people.Into The Abyss is a dark, massively heavy song that addresses the nature of man as he loses purpose and self-destructs, in a downward spiral from the physical world into an unearthly experience of all-encompassing pain. This song in particular demonstrates our Evolution as a band, as it was part of Primary Excavation and has since been greatly improved Vengeance is essentially a long shriek of searing pain. With a sound that's reminiscent of classic Heavy Metal yet with a distinctly modern touch, it tells a tale of a blind search for revenge and the emptiness that is left after its completion. Salt is a beautifully melodic and melancholic song inspired by the green seas and grey skies of home. Seen from the perspective of a tightly knit group of fishermen, the song rolls as the sea itself, sung with a harsh, torn throat in our native language. Inspired by the sounds of Swedish folk music, this song depicts unity in strife Path of Most Resistance. A song that channels rage, anger, unstoppable fervour and a refusal to follow any given path. This song always tears the crowd up and inspires some crazy moshing. Also featuring Heidarsson brothers twin solo. Evolution as a whole is a damn good record, balanced between heavy riffs and intricate melodies. However, above all we are a live band and our passion is best experienced when we perform on stage. Despite some of the bleak themes in our songs, we're really a very merry bunch of metallers – as you'll see when we meet you at our next gig!
