biografía : Anamnasia

The band was formed in the summer of 1996 by two brothers-Stamens (guitars) and Marian (drums). All they wanted to do was to play the heavy and brutal music they loved so much. The first line up was made when Dimitar (vocals) and Asen (bass) joined the band that already had a name-ANAMNASIA. The guys started rehearsing and making the sound and the face of the new formed band. In those days the band sounded more like Alice in Chains and Nirvana, but the guys began to understand that this was the wrong direction and the right one's -hardcore metal.

In May of 1997 the band recorded their first amateur demo called:"100%bootleg in 30 minutes" which contains some old stuff and one cover version on the song: "It ain't like that" originally performed by Alice in Chains. The band began playing more and more on stage which helped them to increase the popularity they so badly desired.

A month later, Dimitar was replaced by Nikola. Krasimir joined Anamnasia as the second guitar player and that helped the guys make the style and orientation of the group more clear and beneficial. That's the period when they recorded their second demo simply called "Demo2" including two new songs: "Valley of my Dreams" and "Come to my World".

In October of 1997 Marian and Stamen came to the most important decision of the band's development: take a girl as a back vocalist. The girl that joined the team was Eileen who impressed the rest of Anamnasia with her beautiful voice and sense of rhythm. Her contribution was enough to make her and indivisible part of the group. Asen left the band because he didn't like the new direction as well as the influence Stamen and Marian had on the rest of the band. Stefan joined the band in December of 1997.

In the beginning of 1998, Anamnasia recorded their third demo: "That's What We Are". After the recording session, Nikola and Krasimir left the band and Anamnasia became a quartet: Eileen (vocals), Stamen (guitars), Marian (drums), and Stefan (bass).

With the new line-up and a lot of fresh energy, the band took part in the biggest summer festivals in Bulgaria which allowed them the opportunity to increase their exposure to the rest of the country.

In October of 1998 Anamnasia entered the studio and recorded their first album which became a compilation of their best work from the last two years. The name of the album is "Mass". Unfortunately, the quality of the sound was not good enough so the album was not signed by a major label. Therefore, the group decided to produce and release the album themselves. Regardless of the sound quality, many copies were sold and encouraged the group to continue.

After almost two years of playing on stage and composing, Anamnasia entered the Graffiti studio in Sofia and recorded their real debut album: "Neo". The members of the group feel this album has a better sound-quality and a more mature sound. Seven of the songs are absolutely new and there are two old tracks: "Anger" and "Confession of a slave" included. Additionally, an extra bonus track "L.B." was included which was recorded in the same studio in 1999.

Meanwhile, Anamnasia made their first video in May of 2001 for the song "Inner friend" from the "Neo" album.

In July of 2001 the band decided to invite a new member to the group. He will be the second vocalist and live supporter to Eilleen. His name is Danail and he was previously a member of the band "RANDOM."

Anamnasia developed into a more diverse and improved band because of the new line-up. As a result, the members began working on some new tracks with Danail and Eileen. They are: "Gone" and "The one I'll never be”. On the 18th of September Stefan left the band making Danail not only the new vocalist of the band, but the new bass player as well. A year later Eileen also left and ANAMNASIA became a trio. With this line up the band wrote 13 new songs for the upcoming album "Chaos Regained" which is expected to be recorded soon.

In July 2004 Krasiпir rejoined the band to leave again in January 2005. His replacement is Mitko who will also appear on the new album "Chaos Regained" scheduled for late 2006 or the beginning of 2007. Meanwhile the guys are working on putting together a new live bootleg to follow their retrospective release "1998 - 2001 The live sessions" from 2005.
