biografía : Alliance (FIN)

Alliance was formed by guitarists Juri Vuortama and Anssi Nummi at the end of the year 1999 to fly the flag for the traditional and melodic heavy metal music. The line-up got complete when singer and bassist Atro Tossavainen and drummer Samuli Häkkilä joined the band. Alliance recorded some awesome metal songs in Z-Studio, Tampere at the end of March 2000. The three best songs made it onto the self-financed debut single In Control. The single hit the streets on the 7th of July 2000 and the band played some gigs in their hometown Helsinki. Guitarist Nummi left the band after the small In Control Tour 2000 and moved to Canada because of his work. The new axeman Tomi Tuomi joined Alliance at the end of year 2000 but this line-up was short lived because also Atro Tossavainen decided to quit Alliance soon after that. The future of the band was on a thin ice for a while because Tomi Tuomi wanted to concentrate on his own solo projects and he also left the band at the dawn of 2001. Anyway, Juri and Samuli didn't give up and after a while they recruited a new guitarist Tomi Sundström to fill the boots of another lead guitarist in Alliance. Bassist Esa Tikkanen joined the band soon after that. The band went through a dozen vocal candidates and rehearsed some time with singer Mikko Alpua but that line-up didn´t last very long. All together it took almost a year to find a lead vocalist talented enough to become the new frontman of Alliance. Finally singer Tomi Viiltola joined Alliance. The debut gig for the newborn Alliance took place at Semifinal Club, Helsinki, Finland 21/9/2001. Alliance recorded some new material with the new line up once again in Tampere, Finland. Those sessions were mixed and mastered in Turku, Finland in June 2002 and released on cd in September 2002. The single is called Sleep With One Eye Open and it´s available in our shop. The summer tour 2002 kicked off from Factory, Helsinki 28/4/2002 and reached its culmination at On The Rocks, Helsinki 31/7/2002. In the beginning of this year we finally got bored with the high rent and low comfortability of our rehearsal room, so we decided to build our own studio. The project took almost a half a year, but finally in early July the studio was ready. We started the rehearsals there in mid July with our new bass player Mika Mäki and since then we have concentrated on perfecting some new songs to record this fall. The new songs are rocking like never before, but unfortunately you won´t be hearing them live until the new recordings are ready. Hopefully we´ll be ready in October and could hit the road and play some club gigs in early November. See you then (Source: Official Site)
