biografía : Airlines Of Terror

Airlines Of Terror was initially an experimental/grind/RnR band that played clubs and squats around rome and italy and had ties mosty with the "anarco-punk" scene, released 2 demos and a split 7" thanx to indipendent diy labels.

The act was formed in 2003 by guitarist and vocalist Demian Cristiani after he left Novembre in 2002 (Recorded as bass player “Novembrine Waltz”, Century Media, 2001 (toured Europe with Opeth and Katatonia). Following the replacements of several band members in the ensuing months and years, Demian would look towards the Rome metal scene to take the airlines to the next level. Already having played in the biggest band of the city, Demian was able to develop deep ties to several of its top musicians.

From them, he completely rebuilt Airlines Of Terror. Joining Demian, in order to get AOT debut album done, were drummer Giuseppe Orlando (Novembre) and bassist Paolo Rossi (Fleshgod Apocalypse). With a new line-up of metalheads in place it became clear that they needed to move back to metal, without giving up a touch of the previous frenetic attitude.

However, Airlines Of Terror extreme metal is fresh and unexpected, yet classy when it gets bluesy ! Unlike most extreme bands, AOT had no interest in writing about the typical evil subjects that have been at the root of the genre for years. They needed to inject a dose of surrealism and irony into their writing that would compliment the aggressive extravaganza that they set out to create.

Death metal lyrical approach and its stereotypes were used as tools to depict, as in a Tarantino movie, every-day life in a pulp, absurd, orgiastic and sarcastic way.
