Mana Sama is a renowned Japanese musician, fashion designer, and cultural icon best known as the leader and guitarist of the influential visual kei bands Malice Mizer and Moi dix Mois. Born on March 19 in Hiroshima, Japan, Mana is famous for his androgynous appearance, mysterious persona, and groundbreaking contributions to both music and fashion in Japan.

Mana began his music career in the late 1980s, initially playing in a punk band called Girl'e. However, his rise to fame came in 1992 when he co-founded Malice Mizer with fellow musician Közi. The band became a cornerstone of the visual kei movement, blending gothic aesthetics, elaborate stage performances, classical influences, and rock music. Mana composed much of the music and was the primary architect of the band’s theatrical and baroque style.

After Malice Mizer went on hiatus in 2001, Mana founded his solo project Moi dix Mois, where he continued to explore gothic and symphonic metal sounds. Alongside his music, Mana also established his own gothic lolita fashion label, Moi-même-Moitié, in 1999, which became a cornerstone of the Gothic Lolita fashion scene globally.

Known for his silent public persona—he rarely speaks in interviews and communicates through written messages—Mana has become a mysterious and iconic figure in both music and fashion. His influence is seen not only in the world of visual kei but also in alternative fashion communities worldwide.
