Hannover, Altwarmbüchen, 1992, as a ten year old kid, Arne Neurand made a discovery that would change the rest of his life: in his parent’s basement he began to experiment with recording music. The sounds and signals took center stage and he put together his first “recording studio”. What started out as a place to record his first band’s demos, turned into a refuge for local bands who had been turned on to the sound of his band’s demo tapes.
After a year of civil service , Arne did an internship at Horus Sound Studio. Back then Horus had a host of freelance engineers working there. Arne worked as an assistant. He got his first break as a recording engineer from the punk band ZSK and their producer Flo V Schwarz. Arne seized the chance and was asked return for the second the album. What has followed is a string of recording engineer jobs which has led him from REVOLVERHELD and DADA ANTE PORTAS, to THE INTERSPHERE, and there is no sign of the string breaking anytime soon.
Arne’s first job as a mixer was in 2006 and it started with an international act, the Slovenian rock band Siddhartha produced by Slovenia’s most successful producer Zarko Pak. Zarko discovered Arne’s sound and asked him to do a test mix for their new album. Arne mixed – Zarko was stoked, the album reached platinum and Zarko has since insisted on having Arne in his team for his important productions.
Arne’s maiden voyage as a producer can be called nothing other than a success. KONTRUST, an Austrian band, is Arne’s first complete LP production. The album, TIME TO TANGO, is Arne’s first “hat trick”; he worked as producer, recording engineer, and mixer. The album released to rave reviews in the music scene and magazines and granted the band their first chart entry. But even that doesn’t satisfy Arne’s craving for creative output. You can also hear Arne as a multi-instrumentalist and songwriter on various albums. He is currently working on a new project with a solo artist, where Arne has taken up the role “band”, playing the guitars, bass and drums on the production. The results: keep your ears open, there are soon to becoming to your favorite download platform.
If you ask Arne the question: As what do you see yourself working in future, as a producer, engineer, mixer, musician, or songwriter? Arne’s answer, “I just want to keep getting better from album to album, no matter what I am doing”. It really can be as simple as that.
