Good, not really impressive but Good...

Gothic metal is one of my favorite subgenres, so once looking on the Internet I found Cadaveria (I was a huge fan of her when she was performing with Opera IX...), but I decided to give it a try.

Now I quietly regard that try, well not everything on this album is bad, so let's start!, Cadaveria (as I mention) is well known for her career on the Black Metal band Opera IX as the lead vocalist, she (alongside the drummer Marçelo Santos) departured from the band in 2001, and then the solo project Cadaveria was born, her debut studio "The Shadows' Madame" was released later in 2002, Cadaveria's vocals remaind me of Arch Enemy's Angela Gossow vocals (but with less power...), the music is not bad at one point but in some tracks like "Declaration of Spiritual Independence", "Circle of Eternal Becoming" & "Absolute Vaccum" they are pretty horrible!

Well, but not all songs included in the whole album are bad, I quietly liked the song "Spell", I think Cadaveria and her band showed a more Blacked Gothic Style in this track and tracks like "In Memory of Shadows' Madame", "The Magic Rebirth" & "Black Glory" the band shows a more Black Metal oriented style that remainds me of Early works by Cradle of Filth & Dimmu Borgir mixed with some Arcturus style.

Althought the album is not quiet impressive for a debut (I mean, Cadaveria knows how to sing, she proved in when she was playing in Opera IX!, she surely didn't improve on this album) I also forgot to mention that the album has some outstanding moments with Orchestal and Symphonic arrangements that actually rescue the album of beeing a total failure.

My final rate for the album would be a 6.5/10, not quiet impressive for a singer like Cadaveria.
