This is the first full length release from this Spanish death-thrash band, although 4 of these 8 songs were released on the Agrodeath demo. They have a great following in south central Spain, there are long lines of people, who wait for their shows. They are from El Valle, Spain. Which is located approximately 13 miles north of the Alboran Sea and 48 miles northeast of the sea-port town of Malaga. Kubla Khan take their name from Kublai Khan, who was a 13th century khagan(emperor)of the Mongolian Empire.

The first song is called Agrodeath. The prefix, Agro, connotes agriculture in both English and Spanish dictionaries. So I interpret this title as meaning, the cultivation of death. The first 35 seconds of this song start with the playing of an Asian stringed instrument. This accentuation must have been an attempt to identify their music to their namesake. Then the song breaks into some shifty death metal. The music sounds similar to Terrorizer. The vocals of Eddie sound similar to Kevin McClintock of Polterchrist towards the end of this song.

Black Soul is spiced with intervals of the Brazilian style of guitar playing, that is played on many of Sepultura's albums. This is underscored by the heavy bass rhythms that come across as sounding halfway between Sepultura and Terrorizer.

Storm From The Past starts with melodic bass and Hendrix's style of flashy guitar licks. Then it kicks into some rhythmic thrashing, accompanied with punk style guitar hooks. The voice of Eddie is very grim on this song, reminding me of J. Pump from Panzerchrist.

The song, Six Sex Six, is a big step forward for this band. Because they've incorporated some technical shredding into this song. It shreds at full throttle, hitting lots of notes, melodically. It's very intense, with a lot of attitude and energy. This song is too good for me to compare to another band. Every aspect of this song is great. I think that this song sounds very original and it kicks ass.

You Make Me Sick is about the dangers of partying excessively. This song thrashes at full speed. The guitar and bass shred relentlessly. The drum playing is very good and fast. Yet there are interludes of the Brazilian style of guitar playing (like Sepultura) on this song. This song is way too fast and intricate to sound like a Sepultura song.

Trip To Hell shreds and thrashes along with a rapid tempo. It's rawness parallels Venom or Motorhead, but has a hideous style of its own.

The final song on this album, Fade Away, thrashes with some technical shredding. It's also infused with some Asian melodies, and some older metal influences like Pantera and Sepultura. This song is about hatred.

In overview, this band would be better off by leaving out the Sepultura styled guitar riffs. They need to focus on their own strengths, such as their own intense technical style, that they have demonstrated on tracks like Six Sex Six. I like the way that they fuse the themes of darkness and humor. It reminds me of how black metal bands like Venom and Sarcofago also added an element of humor to their song writing. They have a lot of talent, in every regard. The vocals, guitar, bass, drums, and song writing are all very impressive. I want to buy this album, but it's not available in the USA, at this time.
