Alluring Welsh Hardcore Punk
Welsh Hardcore Punk group,
Brutality Will Prevail, has returned for their subsequent release,
Misery Sequence. Believe it or not, I'm not that well versed in the Hardcore Punk scene despite loving two major subgenres, Metalcore and
Deathcore. In that, I'm not all that familiar with the genre's powerhouse mainstays.
Misery Sequence is their fifth full length LP and for someone who isn't too knowledgeable in Hardcore Punk, this album is a doozy. It's hard, it's angsty, it's aggressive. All the things that you would expect from a Hardcore album is interlaced in this with some brief Metalcore influences. Some of the riffs and the guitars sound straight out of early 2000s Metalcore, with groovy and dramatic instrumentation. The drumming kicks to every point, even when the angst couldn't be more angrier. I will give it to the band to peak my interests a bit more in the genre as a whole, and I will try to listen to some of their older releases. If I could say anything about this album in a negative way, and this would be cherry-picking, is the flow of the album is a bit clunky at parts, the features sort of get lost with the instruments. This album is an 17/20, it's closer to an 18 than a 16.
