My Precious Royal Euro - Power

Years go by and the European power metal remains alive and now it is at its best more than ever. Many new bands appear and Reinxeed are one of them which complete ten years on stage with three albums in their package and now they have ready their fourth full – length called 1912. I must inform you that by hearing the album you will not reveal the wheel or the fire, but you will appreciate it a lot because the music of Queen is in here, something that the last time we heard that it was in the middle ‘90s by few bands.

The album begins with one of the three songs which last at least six minutes, 1912, a beautiful song, full of melody as all the songs. The guitars in the album are as fast as the speed of light and the melodic parts are just the icing on the cake. The quickness that the guitar players produce in a power album must be under specified control or else the most songs will be boring and the similarity from each one to the other will be more than obvious.
Fortunately something like that is not happening in here and so you can hear with pleasure songs like “Spirit lives on” or “Through the fire”, two great and fast songs and it is easily to keep in mind their choruses at once.

What makes impression in 1912 is the voice of Tommy Johannson, a gifted singer and able to sing high for a long without being tired, “Reach for the sky”, in this one he is singing as high as no one else. The most strange and impressive too is that in some parts of the songs he sounds like Freddie Mercury. No I am not kidding and he is not being a clone of him, but Tommy has his way to do that physically, just check “The fall of man” and “Challenge the storm”. In the second one you can find all the Queen affects I mentioned in the beginning, a song consisted of marvelous polyphonic parts.

The only drawbacks in the album are all those parts of keyboards, which are heard in every song plus with some orchestrations that could be removed, because the keyboards may sometimes offer more than the necessary contribution. Also there are twelve songs in here and the eleven of them are fast, there is not any mid – tempo song and this in some others could make them not listen to the album again.

Apart from these drawbacks the album is really good and under some other circumstances this one could be perfect, especially back to the middle ‘90s it could be stand worthy next to albums of Gamma Ray, Stratovarius and Edguy. Now if you are disappointed by the last Stratovarius and you are searching for an album better and yet close to their sound, then this one is for you or if you are a big supporter of the general European power metal, you are going to love it. Check them, they deserve it!
