psychedelic blackgaze

Ritus Nostrum/Acerbus/2013 Demo Review

Ritus Nostrum are a 1 man band from Germany that plays a very raw and psychedelic form of blackgaze/metal and this is a review of his self released 2013 demo "Acerbus".

"Vernum Aetherniis" which is also the first song on the demo opens up with psychedelic and shoegaze sounds along with some melodic clean singing and then melodic guitar leads and suicidal black metal screams kick in along with semi clean guitar riffing.

''Resorte Negro" a song that is live recorded begins with raw post black metal guitar riffing, programmed beats and melodic clean singing and after a couple of minutes grim black metal screams kick and the guitar riffs get more fast, raw and primitive sounding while also keeping around the melodic vocals and after a minute synths kick in for while and take the music into a softer direction before getting heavy again and then the song alternates between metal and ambient parts.

"douleur bien-aimee" which is also the last song on the demo as well as an instrumental starts up with dark ambient sounding synths and then a few seconds later fast post metal guitar riffs and drum beats kick in

Song lyrics are written in German and cover dark and romantic themes, while the production has a very dark, raw and primitive sound to it.

In my opinion Ritus Nostrum are a very great sounding psychedelic and raw balckgaze/metal project and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this demo. RECOMMENDED TRACK "Resorte Negro". RECOMMENDED BUY.
