Belgian Thrash Metal band Dead Serious is back. This band was founded in 1987 and played its last live concert in 1993. Their style is described as old-school Bay Area thrash, in the spirit of legendary bands such as Anthrax and Exodus.
Dead Serious recorded only one album: It's A Nice Day, in 1989. Due to the bankruptcy of the label, the release was postponed until 1991 when the album was finally released on CD via West Virginia Records (Germany). The album sold very well in Germany, the Netherlands and Belgium. Dead Serious band played numerous shows and festivals, and provided support for Messiah, Pestilence, Sinister, Blind Fury, Faithful Breath, Cyclone, etc. The fatal traffic accident of drummer Marc Vereecken meant the end of the band in 1993.
Despite their long absence, Dead Serious maintained a cult status. The demand for a reunion remained high and proof of that was the successful reissue of It's A Nice Day in 2021. This time the original, remastered CD was released by Sounds of Hell Records, with some bonus tracks. When frontman and stage animal Armando Thiebaut also passed away in 2021, a comeback seemed out of the question for good.
But fate has decided otherwise. Three young and talented musicians have joined to breathe new life into the legacy of Dead Serious: Jan Schepens on guitar, Xavier Weekers (Tyrant King) on drums and William Lawson (Promise Down), a singer who not only sounds remarkably like the young Armando, but also comes close to his sound uncannily well. Together with original band members Jan Van Der Poorten (guitar) and Gunther ‘Gunny’ Poppe (bass guitar) – both also working for Cult of Scarecrow – they bring Dead Serious back to life.
