Hi, first, thanks answering this interview. And could you start it with a little biography of your group ?
--- Brand New Sin was formed in September 2001, we were signed to Now Or Never Records in October of the same year. We released our self-titled debut in June 2002 and toured for the next year and a half. At that time our label basically went bankrupt. We then were signed to a Sony distributed label that had NOOOO idea of what to do with Brand New Sin. We wrote nearly 70 songs and gave them about 50 and they kept saying…….WE DON’T HEAR A HIT!!!…I mean they knew what they were getting when they signed us. They wanted something we weren’t. So to make a long story short we asked for our release in April of 2004 and Century Media was right there waiting to scoop us up. We worked out the legal stuff over the following months and entered the studio in September 2004.

Your new album “Recipe for disaster” will be out next month, are you personnaly satisfied with your album ?
---We have never been so satisfied musically in our entire lives. We poured every bit of emotion and ounce of energy we had into this album. We took our time writing these songs and even more time presenting them. I hope everyone can hear the passion behind it.

How would you present it ?
---PURE ROCK AND ROLL!!!!

I really enjoyed its cover, whose author of it ?
---It was a team effort between the band, our photographer Robert and our layout guru Billy White Jr.

I guess you wanted to represent with it all the power of your band...
---Partly because of that and also it fits in with the theme of our layout.

What are your musical influences ?
--- God there is so many influences. We all have a wide range of influences. Here’s a few…..Black Sabbath, AC/DC, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Metallica, Danzig, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, COC, Pantera, Down, Black Label Society, Megadeth and many, many more. Basically if it’s good it influenced us!!!!

And how would you describe your own music ?
---We had someone describe us last week and I think I will quote him. We are a rock band with heavy metal influences!! Basically we are a bunch of headbangers that play rock and roll.

Do you have a favourite track on the cd ?
---It changes from day to day!! Right now there are three…..Dead Man Walking, Vicious Cycles and Wyoming.

Which topics do your new texts deal with ? Where do you take inspiration from (litterature, dreams, personnel thoughts, everyday life…) ?
---On the whole this is a very,very dark record. The emotions and bullshit we w

ent through writing this record come out in the songs. These songs all come from personal experiences that happened to all of us.

How is the songs writing process in your band ?
--- All of our songs are a complete team effort. Everyone in this band writes and has contributed to each and every song. The basic way a BNS song comes together is first a riff, then a melody, then and the words. PURE ROCK!!

What is the meaning of “Brand New Sin”, why choosing a such band name ?
---I guess Brand New Sin means whatever you want it to. Its open to all kinds of interpretation.

Is a tour planned ? Will french Metalheads have the chance to see you soon on stage ?
--- We are definitely coming. It will be late this summer and into fall. No confirmed dates yet and the band that we will be opening for will be announced soon as well. SO STAY TUNED!!

---Brand New Sin is our one and only focus right now.

And, to finish, could you explain to us, your vision about the “spirit of metal” ?
---The “spirit of metal” is three things…..POWER, FREEDOM AND INSPIRATION!!
