Biography : Winterhymn

Winterhymn (Cincinnati, OH) has proudly carried the American pagan metal flag into battle since 2009. Guitarist/vocalist Draug, guitarist Varrik, drummer Valthrun, violinist Umbriel, keyboardist Exura, and bassist/vocalist Alvadar launch a hostile campaign of black, death, and power metal, fueled by the haunting strains of folk and symphonic metal and the spirit and escapism of fantasy and folklore inspired by both their own mythos and the forests and wildlands of their North American homeland. With a melding of influences including Bathory, Primordial, Amon Amarth, and Immortal, they have cast listeners the world over into their own realm of conquest, death, and untamed wilderness.

Winterhymn released their debut album "Songs for the Slain" in October 2011 and spent 2012 crisscrossing Eastern America in its support. In but one year’s time they had shared the local and regional stage with many of the heavyweights of their own genre and beyond, including Children of Bodom, Eluveitie, Turisas, Alestorm, Arkona, Skeletonwitch, Huntress, Revocation, Threat Signal, and 3 Inches of Blood. Winterhymn embarked on their first North American tour in 2014 with Paganfest America Part V, alongside Korpiklaani, Turisas, Chthonic, and Varg, terrorizing the continent with their spirit of wild bloodlust. In 2015 they joined forces with Arkona, Heidevolk, and Helsott for the Pagan Rebellion North American tour. 2016 saw them sign with SoundAge Productions for the release of their second album, Blood & Shadow, which will be released on June 17th. See them on the Blood & Shadow East Coast Tour with Yesterday's Saints and Khaotika in June 2016.
