Biography : Wallachia

Wallachia was formed as a solo project in the year of 1992 by Lars Stavdal. Since there wasn't that many people playing black / death metal in his home town Steinkjer he started writing songs on his own. He planned to record a demo on his own in the autumn of 1994 but due to lack of equipment and money it never happened. The plans were put on ice for a while but at the same time he got in touch with Eystein Garberg from the band Folkvang. In the summer of 1995 he joined Wallachia to play rhythm guitars, keyboards and program drums. After a few weeks of rehearsing they recorded a rehearsal tape with two songs on a portable recorder. This recording didn't have any synths or vocals. In November 1995 they recorded their debut "Demo 1996" in a 24 track studio. It was released by themselves in March 1996 and the 700 copies made sold out within a year. After hearing about them from the editor of the Swiss "Skogen Magazine" the French label Velvet Music International offered them a record deal. They released the demo on cd in the spring of 1997 and a full-length album in 1999. Since then the band has probably split up.
