Biography : Unknown Fear (UK)

Drawing influence from classic metal bands such as Iron Maiden, old school thrash bands such as Sodom,Destruction, Kreator,Death Angel,Slayer and Exodus and also influenced by modern progressive bands such as Opeth and Enslaved the music incorporates a mixture of guitar harmonies, ferocious thrash orientated riffs, ripping solos a tight rhythm section and pounding bass.the main ingredient is thrash but more interesting influences are being brought in to make every song sound unique. Having played at many venues across the United Kingdom especially the south west. Unknown Fear have earnt themselves a following after playing small venues such as The Vaults in Cirencester and larger venues such as The Net in Abingdon, The Night Owl in Cheltenham and The Furnace in Swindon. The band was formed by Rob Frost and Gareth Nash in 2005 who then recruited Dan Burridge on lead guitar. These three members had all played together in their previous band Rising Tension so the chemistry was already in place. The band began to write material, also they began to search for the final ingredient, a bass player. After a fairly long search the band were contacted by Ben Gryspeerdt, who previouly played with Cirencester metal band Bad Seed and Bristol progressive metal band December Flower. Ben Learned the songs in a matter of a day. The bands's first gig was held at Area 51 in swindon and since then the band have played many of the venues in Oxfordshire and Gloucestershire. The band also competed in Global Battle Of The Bands, which was held in london.Unknown Fear were previously known as Midas but complications arose when there was a band with the same name. The band renamed themselves, Unknown Fear. After playing many gigs, the band had been well recieved wherever they played. Sadly this lineup was soon to end. Dan a talented member of the band had decided to go to uni and to travel the world. He played his last few gigs and left on good terms. After quarells in the band ben was asked to leave. He had intentions of starting other projects but then got kicked out of home yet again and moved to london to rethink his life. Gareth gave up hope and left the band to join a thrashcore band called Amenti. The band were more known and established than U.F and it seemed like his oppertunity to stardom, so he packed up his leads and quit. We wish him the best of luck in the future. And he is still a fond freind of every member of the band. Rob then recruited new members, firstly Nyall Gunn on lead guitar duties. Rob had met Nyall through working with him at MC Shits (Mc Donalds). He was a good choice and added a degree extra of technicality to the music and his Kirk Hammet-esque style fits perfectly. Secondly Damien Taylor was recruited. His fast and crushing rhythm was a great replacement for Gaz. And his wide range of taste in metal is a worth asset.Damo and Ben have been best freinds for years so they had already written a couple of songs together before. Last but not least,Ben returned from london to home, and also retuned to the band. Unknown Fear have now recorded a full length Album entitled "From Hell". The album artwork etc is still in pipeline however very soon you will able to own this thrashtastic record. Ask band members ! New material is on the way as the members explore different areas of creativity and broaden the bands sound, we will say one thing expect the unexpected.
