Biography : Tormenter

For three years ToRmenTeR has been honing their craft to step out of the shadows set forth by their contemporaries. The band has vigorously done everything in their power to try and burn the sound of their musical attack into every metal maniac everywhere. The band has done everything in their power to meet their goal set forth from sharing the stage with legendary trail blazers like Exodus, Destruction, Obituary, and D.R.I., or just simply interacting with their fans and ensuring them a good friendly violent time at every ToRmenTeR show.

Pulse of Terror is the debut full-length album by the Los Angeles thrash metal quintet. Combining the sound from their 2008 E.P. "Assault From Beyond The Grave" and their influences of raw and technical thrash metal, ToRmenTeR has forged one of the most anticipated debut albums in the N.W.O..T.M. The album is set to be unleashed to the hungry metal masses on October 26, 2010 by EBM Records.

Pulse of Terror will be the first release by ToRmenTeR that will not be available exclusively from the trunks of their cars. This album varies in sound due to the fact that there are several different writing styles; therefore, it will always keep the listener interested. It consists of 12 well-arranged songs with a maturity that takes other bands at least until their sophomore or junior albums to establish.

The lyrical content on Pulse of Terror ranges from simple surgical mal-practice as heard in "No Anesthesia" to World War II era cruelty as in "Inhumanity Personified” and “Absolution“. The album also discusses more serious topics, like deceptive mind control, with “Messiah on Trial”, and the current state of misleading and abusive authority figures like in "Dismantle the World" and "Severe Enforcement".

The lead guitar work on Pulse of Terror blends two different styles; a musical flavor approach with melodically complex ideas and a rebellious “up-the-gut” attitude of fury that implies aggression. Combined, these provide the yin and yang of the lead work. Never restricted to root notes or simple ideas, ToRmenTeR utilizes the bass as its own weapon. The bass work provides a foundation for the music, while also providing licks and modes that are not too over the top, but color the song differently and add more dimension to it. The drums are designed to stand on its own and separate itself from the current trends of constant blast beats and double bass. Though not to say they are completely absent, they are incorporated when the we only use them when necessary as to not sound redundant.

What lies ahead after the release of this album will be nothing short of a catastrophe let loose upon humankind. In accordance with ToRmenTeR's Ethical Treatment of Music and Art (E.T.M.A), Pulse of Terror contains absolutely no auto-tuning what so ever, as it is a crime punishable by curb stomping. Make sure to pick up your copy as soon as collection of extreme brutality hit's stands.
