Biography : Stormwarrior

The band Stormwarrior, hailing from Northern Germany, was founded in 1998 by Lars Ramcke (Vocals/ Guitar) and Andrè Schumann (Drums) and in the same year added Scott Bölter (Guitar) and Tim Zienert (Bass). Greatly inspired by the 80's metal scene, especially from the Hamburg Metal godfathers like Helloween and Running Wild, Stormwarrior were able to lay down their first songs to tape in 1999. With the demo tape “Metal Victory”, which was limited to 500 copies, the band received very good reviews and many interview requests from underground fanzines and webzines Germany and Europe wide.
One year later 700 copies of the second demo, “Barbaric Steel”, were released. The attention of the metal underground was once again aroused with this new Stormwarrior release. After many live shows (among others at the Headbangers Open Air, the Warriors of Steel Meeting, and at the Logo in Hamburg) the Italian underground label Dream Evil Records released in 2001 the 333 copy limited edition 7” “Possessed by Metal”, which contained two songs from the second demo tape and which sold out in a very short time

With a freshly signed contract from the Hamburg Remedy Records label the band released a second 7” (as a normal 7” and a picture 7” both limited to 250 copies), named after the title song “Spikes & Leather”, at the beginning of 2002. These two releases were also warmly received and brought in very positive reviews from various magazines, webzines and fanzines.

The debut album, which was recorded and produced by Kai Hansen and Dirk Schlächter, was released in july 2002. The cover art was done by the renowned artist Uwe Karczewski, best known for his work on the cult covers of the 80's (among others from Helloween and Iron Angel). The album received great reviews in nearly every important zine all over the world. After their succsessfull appearance at the Wacken Open Air 2002 Stormwarrior now prepare for the recordings of the second album which will take place in summer of 2003.
