In the beginning of 2002 the bassist Delano Lima began the process of composing songs and lyrics inspired by the hate against useless institutions and ideologies based on human weakness and limitation. Uniting technique, aggressiveness, and morbiness, it was conceived the idea of present the most honest death metal by the name of Somberlain.

Soon after the creation of the band, Marco joined the group and in June of the same year they entered in studio to record "Awakening In The Darkness", the first demo. For the recordings they invited the musicians Bruno César (drums) and Luciano Abreu (guitars - R.I.P.).

In 2004 the second demo, "Humanity's Funeral", was recorded, and after some changes the band had the following line-up: Delano Lima (bass), Fabrício Carvalho (guitars), Yuri Leite (guitars), Marco Aurélio (vocals) and Bruno Gabai (drums). In 2006 Yuri Leite left the band, being replaced by Luiz Araújo.

In the promotion of both demos Somberlain made concerts in several cities of Brazil, playing with worldwide known extreme metal bands like Cannibal Corpse, Incantation and Krisiun.

Actually Somberlain is promoting "Sick Artwork", their first album, which features ten tracks of the purest death metal, conceived with the band's identity, and recorded with a killer production.
