Omophagia came into existence in December 2006 when Beni (vocals), after the break up of his former band Morthor, was looking for musicians to create a new band. His intention to that time was to play old school Death metal like Massacre, Pestilence and Monstrosity. He asked Henrique (guitar), who had been playing with him in a former project, to join him, Beni was aware that both would have the same taste of music and that they would get along perfectly with each other. Fortunately he agreed and so they began to search for the missing members. Henrique knew a guy called Raphael and asked him to join the band and also he was immediately interested. They met to jam with each other and Raphael turned out to be a very talented guitarist as well as a very nice person. Also he decided to join the project and together they began to compose some songs. Soon they recognized that they were a perfect team since in very little time they created several great songs. However, in the meantime the idea of playing old school Death metal faded and they slowly let things flow naturally. Still they needed a bass-player and a drummer to complete the band. To solve this problem they launched a Myspace-site containing very bad-recorded songs. It worked, soon after they came across a guy called Rafael (Citizen:Hell) who played bass, who also turned out to be an amazing bass-player and fitted perfectly in rest of the band. Now the band was almost complete, of course they needed a drummer. A few days later Beni accidentally met a drummer who seemed to be the perfect completion for the band and as they should soon recognize he was. In contrast to the other members he was not immediately amazed by the project so they all had to persuade him. After some talks he agreed to join and with him Omophagia became a complete band in May 2007.
Together they were looking for an appropriate rehearsal-room. Fortunately they could rent a very shabby but cheap 4.5-chamber-flat where they could make noise at any time and as loud as they wanted to. With great effort they remade the flat so that they could bring their creativity to a higher level and soon they were ready to play the old and some new songs within the best ambience.
The band got ripe quite quickly and time was right to start playing live. The first concert took place in Dynamo in November 2007. With success, obviously Omophagia caught a lot of attention towards them and got several offers to play live.
A the same time, Omophagia had been working on their debut CD/EP. This was not easy thing since they had neither much time (studies, work) nor money for such project, therefore they decided to record it on their own. As a result of their own effort, "Omophagia - Devouring Raw Flesh" was released on March 19th 2008.
The reactions about this record were great and made it possible for Omophagia to play at many concerts in the following months. Unfortunately, due to his studies, Raphael decided to leave the band in the beginning of September 08, but not a long while after his retreat Mischa came along and was selected as the perfect replacement for Raphael. Currently Omophagia is playing as many concerts as possible (so every request will be very appreciated), the guy are actively creating new songs and making preparations on their forthcoming album, which is seen to be released in winter 2009.
